Gebr. Pfeiffer wins Ravena upgrade contract
10 February 2014US: Lafarge North America has contracted Gebr. Pfeiffer Inc. to supply an MVR vertical roller mill as part of the overall modernisation project underway at the Lafarge Ravena plant located in the Town of Coeymans, New York. The modernisation project will replace the current wet process kiln with a dry line, allowing the plant to cut emissions and also increase its capacity.
A Gebr. Pfeiffer MVR 6000 R-6 will be installed in a complete new line at the plant, replacing two existing raw material mills. The scope of supply will also includes a 5600kW motor, engineering, supply and related services. Commissioning for this project is planned for the middle of 2016.
OYAK Group orders three vertical roller mills from Pfeiffer
17 December 2013Turkey: Bolu Cimento Sanayii AS, a member of the OYAK Group, has ordered three vertical roller mills from Gebr Pfeiffer SE for the new production line at its cement grinding plant in Kazan near Ankara. Installation of the mill will expand the existing plant into an integrated cement plant. Delivery of the mills is scheduled for mid-2014 and will boost the total number of Pfeiffer mills installed at OYAK Group cement plants to eight.
An MPS 4500 B with a drive power of 3150kW will be used for cement raw material grinding. The mill is guaranteed to produce 320t/hr at a product fineness of 12% residue on the 0.090mm screen.
Pet-coke and lignite will be ground in an MPS 225 BK vertical roller mill with a drive power of 400kW. The throughput rate of this mill when grinding pet-coke will be 20t/hr at a fineness of 3% residue on the 0.09mm screen and 35t/hr when processing lignite.
Bolu Cimento has also ordered an MPS 4500 BC mill with a drive power of 3300kW, which will yield 130t/hr of CEM I at a specific surface of 3900cm²/g acc. to Blaine.
Contracts for Gebr. Pfeiffer in Indonesia and Germany
17 October 2013Germany: Dyckerhoff AG's Palatine cement plant in Göllheim, Germany has been operating an MPS 140 K mill for coal since 1983 and an old-style static classifer. As modern coal firing systems require a finer product quality, the customer has decided to purchase a high-efficiency SLS 1120 BK classifier from Gebr. Pfeiffer SE. The classifier is guaranteed to separate the material to a fineness of 3% R 90µm. It will be installed in mid February 2014.
Indonesia: Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, the German vertical roller mill manufacturer, is to supply five vertical roller mills to Indonesia's booming cement market.
China's Sinoma International Engineering Co. Ltd., acting as the general contractor for PT Cemindo Gemilang's new 10,000t/day cement production line in Bayah, Java, has ordered two MPS 5300 B vertical roller mills for raw material grinding, two MPS 5300 BC vertical roller mills for cement grinding and an MPS 4500 BK vertical roller mill for coal grinding.
The MPS raw mills are designed to achieve a capacity of 400t/hr each. The throughput rate of the cement mills will be 220t/hr each and the coal mill yielding 100t/hr will be the world's largest vertical roller mill to date for coal grinding.
The order includes the supply of workshop drawings to enable the local manufacture of the mill components and the supervision of manufacture at Chinese workshops. Erection and commissioning will be supervised by staff from Gebr. Pfeiffer. Delivery is slated for the third quarter of 2014.
Sinoma orders another Gebr. Pfeiffer mill for Iraq
04 September 2013Iraq: Sinoma (Suzhou) Construction has placed an order for an MPS 5000 B vertical roller mill for cement raw material grinding from Germany's Gebr. Pfeiffer SE. The grinding plant will be located near Sulaymaniya in northern Iraq and is the fifth MPS 5000 B in a row which will be installed there.
The vertical roller mill sold is designed for a capacity of 500t/hr at a product fineness of 10% R 80 µm and will come equipped with a 4000kW gear unit.
In addition to the supply of the core components for the grinding plant, the order includes engineering services to enable the local manufacture of mill components and the supervision of manufacture at Chinese workshops.
First Gebr. Pfeiffer mill for Uzbekistan
19 June 2013Uzbekistan: The Turkish turnkey cement plant solutions provider DAL Teknik Makina has placed an order with Germany's Gebr. Pfeiffer SE for a Pfeiffer MPS 3350 B vertical roller mill for raw meal. It will be used for the manufacture of grey and white cement in Uzbekistan.
The grinding plant is scheduled to go on stream as early as 2014. The mill is guaranteed to achieve a raw meal capacity of 200t/hr for the production of grey cement. When it comes to white cement, the mill will be capable of processing 160t/hr of raw material. The installed power of the mill will be 1700kW.
The company said that the order is proof of its good cooperation with Turkish companies and that it strengthens its Pfeiffer's position in Central Asia.
Adriano Greco joins Gebr. Pfeiffer Inc
10 April 2013South America: Gebr. Pfeiffer, Inc., the US-based subsidiary of Germany's vertical roller mill manufacturer Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Adriano Greco as Sales Director of the South American market.
Greco has gained extensive, world-wide industry experience through his numerous years in various management positions at GRECO Burners Company in Brazil, Austria, China and Spain. More recently, he served as General Director of ATEC GRECO in Brazil and GRECO Combustion Systems Europe GmbH in Austria.
In 2005, he was instrumental in creating the Brazilian Cement and Lime Conference. He is fluent in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Italian and French.
Gebr. Pfeiffer to supply VRM to Iraq

The grinding plant will be set in GRD Cement Plant Company Tainall's 5000t/day cement plant located near the town of Sulaimaniah in northern Iraq. The MPS vertical roller mill on order is designed for a capacity of 450t/hour at a product fineness of 12 % R 90µm.
Gebr. Pfeiffer SE to supply VRM to Togo
22 November 2012Togo: Chengdu Design & Research Institute of Building Materials Industry, which belongs to the Chinese Sinoma Group and acting as General Contractor for a new cement production line in Togo, has ordered an MPS 5000 B vertical roller mill from Germany's Gebr. Pfeiffer SE for raw material grinding. The grinding plant will be set up in a greenfield 5000t/day cement production line owned by Scantogo, a member of HeidelbergCement.
The MPS raw mill sold will have a rated capacity of 410t/hr and has been specially designed to cope with the possibility that raw material with a high moisture content of 15% may be ground.
Apart from the supply of the core components for the grinding plant, the order includes the supply of workshop drawings to enable the local manufacture of mill components and the supervision of manufacture at Chinese workshops. Moreover, erection and commissioning on site will be supervised by staff from Gebr. Pfeiffer.
The mill is scheduled to be delivered in the third quarter of 2013.
Pfeiffer wins VRM order from Colombian producer
01 November 2012Germany: Gebr. Pfeiffer Inc., a subsidiary of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, has been awarded a contract to supply an MPS 140 BK Coal Mill at Cementos Tequendama in Suesca, Cundinamarca. The contract follows other recent Pfeiffer projects in Colombia, including Cementos Tequendama, Cementos San Marcos and other cement plants. Cementos Tequendama became operational in 2008 after an investment of US$150m. The plant has a cement capacity of 300,000t/yr.
Pfeiffer strengthens long-standing business relations in India
11 October 2012India: Gebr. Pfeiffer SE has secured an order from Shree Cement to provide a MPS 5000 B vertical roller mill for its RAS works in Rajasthan. The order follows a similar order from earlier in 2012 for production line seven at the RAS works.
The mill will feature a 3400kW drive designed to grind 420t/hr of raw material to a product fineness of 2% R212µm. Petcoke which is used as fuel at the works, will be ground to a fineness of 1-2% R 90µm in an MPS 2800 BK coal mill, which will come equipped with a 720-kW drive and an integrated high-efficiency classifier of the type SLS-BK.
Core components of the mills and the gear units will be supplied from Europe by Gebr. Pfeiffer SE. Gebr. Pfeiffer (India), the Indian subsidiary of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, will source components such as the housing of the mills and the classifiers, the foundation parts as well as the internal parts of the classifiers. Additionally, the Indian subsidiary will design the layout of the grinding plants at its Noida-based offices and will advise Shree Cement on equipment procurement.
