US: Schenck Process has launched a new Vertical Cartridge Filter (VCF) that removes industrial dust when handling medium to high air volumes. A core feature of the product is a cartridge clamp system that is intended to simplify replacement of the filter media and minimise maintenance time.
The filter is also equipped with a smart timer which includes an on-board sensor that reads the pressure drop across the filtering elements for on demand cleaning. A standard radial inlet allows for material separation during moderate air volume applications while an optional high entry inlet with a pre-separation chamber is designed for high volume systems. The chamber separates the largest powder particles protecting the media from excess loads of pollutants and aiding longer media life.
Each unit is constructed with reinforced carbon steel that is rated for 6.5psi Pred. The VCF has also been Pred validated through a full scale third party explosion test. Explosion mitigation devices are also available with the new VCF. The new filter will be manufactured in the US.
Holcim Azerbaijan launches Spesial Cement product

Mexico: Cemex Ventures has invested in Prysmex, a Mexico-based startup that offers a product capable of detecting and helping to prevent workplace accidents through the Internet of Things and real-time data collection. Following a successful trial period, Cemex has installed Prysmex’s product at all its cement plants in Mexico.
Prysmex’s product features a web platform with a collaborative management app that monitors the environmental and geolocation variables of unsafe acts and conditions on customized 3D maps, enabling real-time decision-making and increased industry safety and productivity. Through the Internet of Things, Prysmex enables an analysis of data such as impacts, light and noise levels, locations, temperatures and the presence of toxic gases. Placed on the workers' helmets, Prysmex devices monitor and communicate in real time users' conditions, alerting them to potential situations and high-risk areas. In addition, its web application provides an analytical report of workers' and plant conditions, enabling better workplace decision-making and accident prevention at all times.
Founded by chemical engineer Susana Ruiz and civil engineer Patricio de Villa in Monterrey, Mexico, Prysmex was the finalist of Cemex Ventures Startup Competition 2017 and is now part of the company's portfolio.

FCT Combustion to launch Turbu-Flex burner in April 2018
20 March 2018Australia: FCT Combustion plans to launch its Turbu-Flex burner in April 2018. The pyro-processing engineering company says that the product will enable operators to switch between different fuels and optimise for each with the one burner. Switching between alternative and refuse derived fuels is intended to allow cement and other industrial plants to lower fuel costs and improve kiln performance. The burner also offers reduced maintenance, as it no moving parts are needed to change the air supply.
“We’ve now proven the burner’s benefits and ease of use in the field. Under testing for almost one year, and operating with over 80% fuel replacement using refuse-derived fuel (RDF), the results are very pleasing for the plant operator and FCT,” said Con Manias, the Managing Director of FCT International. He added that the company also focused on building its footprint in South East Asia.
The company says that it has projects running in six continents due to a ‘surge’ in burner orders.
