China: Fujian Jianfu Cement has hired Citic Heavy Industries to carry out engineering design, procurement, construction and delivery of its upcoming 4500t/day ‘green smart’ cement plant. Process Worldwide Online News has reported that the plant will cost US$136m and operate with a high degree of process automation. As such, Citic Heavy Industries will rely on 3D parametric equipment design and digital twin technology in order to generate equipment models, incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and maximise data potential for lifecycle operations.
Foreign workers charged at Siam Cement-CITIC Heavy Industries plant project in Myanmar
10 October 2016Myanmar: Five foreign workers at Mawlamyine Cement, a cement plant being built by Siam Cement and CITIC Heavy Industries, have been charged for violating visa regulations. The workers failed to report the initial arrival of 11 of their colleagues’ to the local immigration authorities, according to the Myanmar Times. Four Chinese and one Thai citizen have been charged with violating three sections of the Registration of Foreigners Rules of 1948 which require the registration of foreigners with relevant immigration officials within 24 hours of arrival at a hotel.
Siam Cement and CITIC Heavy Industries signed a deal in 2013 to build a 5000t/day plant for US$197m. The plant is expected to become operational later in 2016.
First Claudius Peters cooler to head to Cambodia
04 May 2016Cambodia: China’s CITIC Heavy Industries has ordered a 5500t/day ETA 10610S clinker cooler from Germany’s Claudius Peters. The cooler will be used in a new cement plant being built for Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation in the southern Kampot region.
The order represents a new territory for Claudius Peters, as it will be the first time it has supplied equipment to Cambodia. Delivery will take place in November 2016.
China's CITIC wins contract for US$262m cement plant in Cambodia
07 December 2015Cambodia/China: China's CITIC Heavy Industries Company has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from a Cambodian conglomerate to build a US$262m, 5000t/day cement plant in Cambodia.
Under the contract, CITIC will carry out the detailed engineering design of the project, procure all the equipment and materials necessary and then construct a cement plant for Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation, a subsidiary of Chip Mong Group. It will be "Cambodia's largest single cement line with the most modern and state-of-the-art equipment and technologies from Germany and China," said Aidan Lynam, CEO of Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation. "It will be a world-class cement plant that produces top quality products for our company, with emission controls which protect the neighbouring environment with the lowest carbon footprint." The plant is a joint venture with Siam City Cement Public Company Limited of Thailand.
Mines and Energy Minister Suy Sem said that the contract between the two companies had clearly showed the confidence of investors in Cambodia's political stability and business opportunities. "Cement demand in Cambodia is very high due to the rapid progress of construction industry," he said. "Thus, I believe that this cement plant will be able to meet the demand of cement in Cambodia." It is estimated that domestic cement demand is about 4Mt/yr.
Pioneer signs waste heat recovery deal with CITIC
03 July 2015Pakistan: Pioneer Cement has signed an agreement with CITIC Heavy Industries, China to purchase a 12MW Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) system. The company's plant is located at Chenki, District Khusshab, in the heart of Punjab Province, 250km from Lahore. According to the company notice sent to the Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE), the total estimated cost of the plant is US$14.7m.

CITIC invests in Belarus upgrade
06 June 2012Belarus: A new dry 1.8Mt/yr cement line has been commissioned at Kostyukovichi in Belarus. Architecture and Construction Minister Anatoly Nichkasov presided over the opening ceremony for the joint Belarusian and Chinese project, which was constructed by the Chinese company CITIC Construction. Director of OAO Belarusian Cement Plant Vladimir Kiselev said that the launch of a further cement manufacturing line in July 2012 would raise domestic output to 3Mt/yr. He also noted that it would create 154 new jobs.
Since 2007 CITIC has been implementing an investment programme in Belarus to modernise cement mills and manufacturing lines, including building three new cement mills and modernising the power supply for three existing ones. In April 2012 a cement line was commissioned at OAO Krasnoselskstroimaterialy with a capacity of 1.8Mt/yr. OAO Krichevtsementnoshifer will have a similar line to be completed by 1 July 2012. Loans from China Export and Import Bank are the main source of funding.
Timken supplies bearings for CITIC mill
30 May 2012China: Timken Company has supplied bearings for one of China's largest vertical slag mills, featuring a 5.7m grinding table. The mill, one of several now utilising Timken bearings, was developed by CITIC Heavy Industries Co Ltd, one of China's top manufacturers of cement-producing equipment. According to CITIC, the new vertical slag mill produced by CITIC is expected to produce up to 1.2Mt/yr of ground slag for inclusion in cement and concrete products.
"Many sizable construction projects underway across China require large amounts of quality concrete," said Leong Fang, president of Timken China. "We work closely with CITIC and other customers in this important industry to make sure they can meet the growing demands of their customers for concrete and other construction materials. Our recent success is a testimony to teamwork and innovation for the two companies."
