Honduran producers agree to price cut
23 November 2018Honduras: Cementos Argos and Cementos del Norte have agreed to cut the price of cement for government-backed reisdential and infrastructure projects following a request by President Juan Orlando Hernández, according to the El Heraldo newspaper. The price will fall by around 15% when the agreements between the cement producers and the government is finalised.
Honduras: Cementos del Norte has spent US$29m on upgrades for its Rio Bijao cement plant in Choloma. The project includes increasing the unit’s capacity for production, storage capacity and alternative fuels, according to the La Prensa newspaper. The cement producer is installing a new cement grinding mill at the site. This will enable it to raise its cement prouction capacity to 2.5Mt/yr from 1.5Mt/yr.
Fives wins dryer contract with Cementos del Norte
13 June 2017Honduras: France’s Fives has won a contract to supply a FCB Flash dryer for Cementos del Norte’s Bijao plant. The dryer will be installed on an existing ball mill that was supplied and installed by Fives FCB in 2001 for a production capacity of 90t/hr of pozzolanic cement. Since then the pozzolana content and moisture rate have increased. Once operational the grinding plant drying capacity will rise.
