Sustained Visions, Qazax Sement Zavodu and DAL Teknik Makina commission 1.3Mt/yr Gazakh cement plant

16 September 2020

Azerbaijan: Germany-based Sustained Visions has announced the commissioning of Akkord Cement subsidiary Qazax Sement Zavodu’s 1.3Mt/yr-capacity integrated Gazakh cement plant in Ganja-Gazakh region following a phase-two upgrade completed in collaboration with the owner and DAL Holding subsidiary DAL Teknik Makina. The plant, built in 2013, had an original capacity of 0.9Mt/yr.

Sustained Visions praised the collaborative effort, which has resulted in a “significant reduction in specific energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions” for the plant, and “shows very stable performance.” Managing director Ralf Slomski noted that, in spite of the coronavirus outbreak, the company was able to maintain a project management team of five staff on the site at peak periods.

Dal Teknik Makina to start on upgrade project at Akkord Cement’s Gazakh plant

12 July 2019

Azerbaijan: Turkey’s Dal Teknik Makina is set to start work on an upgrade project at Akkord Cement’s integrated plant at Gazakh. It will increase the clinker production capacity to 3300t/day from 2500t/day. The supply of equipment is expected to be completed in six months and the shutdown period is planning to be five weeks. No value for the order has been disclosed.

The first phase of the upgrade project will be the retrofit of the raw mill unit. A static drying separator will be placed in front of the raw mill to dry clay and some of limestone. Equipment to be replaced in the raw mill unit include a dynamic separator, ball charge modification, all parts of separator cyclones and the raw mill fan. The raw mill grinding capacity will be upgraded by drying the raw materials and enhancing the separation efficiency.

The next phase will consist of replacing the raw mill/kiln bag filter and filter fan to reach the desired upgraded capacity. Finally, the pyro-processing system unit will be modified. In order to reach the target production capacity the equipment to be changed will be the first four stage cyclones with the modification of the calciner-TAD connection and new splash boxes will be installed.

Dal Teknik Makina completes upgrade project at Nuh Çimento

06 February 2018

Turkey: Dal Teknik Makina has completed an upgrade project on Kiln Line 1 at Nuh Çimento in Kocaeli. Key features of the project included increasing the line’s production capacity, decreasing its energy requirements, making savings on power consumption and lowering the exit temperature of the clinker. The work has increased the plant’s production capacity to 3400t/day from 2800t/day. Other benefits of the update include decreasing the specific heat consumption of clinker to 740kcal/kg clinker from 870kcal/kg clinker, reducing electrical power consumption by 7kWh/t and increasing the raw mill capacity to 185t/hr from 160t/hr. The exit temperature of clinker was also reduced to 55oC plus the ambient temperature.

This project involved the design, manufacturing and erection of the pre-heater tower cyclones group, kiln feed transport system, clinker cooler, kiln hood, removing of dust cyclone at tertiary air duct, cooler vent fan modification, main bag filter duct modification and kiln inlet seal and commissioning of the system.

The first part of the upgrade project was the modification of the pre-heater tower, which as a result reduced the pressure drop, improved heat transfer and separation efficiency, and heat consumption. The second part of the project was the retrofit of the grate cooler. The clinker cooler, kiln hood, cooler fans and cooler vent fan were replaced by Fons Technology International. In this part, kiln hood, cooler vent, exit pipe of waste heat recovery (WHR) unit and tertiary air duct were modified as well. The third part was to replace the horizontal duct of main bag filter inlet with an inclined one in order to avoid dust accumulation. The last step was the replacement of the pneumatic kiln feed by bucket elevator.

The project followed Dal Teknik Makina’s Filter-To-Filter Pyro-Process Concept.
