Germany: Intercem Engineering is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary on 14 April 2023. The group was originally founded over 50 years ago when it started by selling used machines to the cement industry. Anther subsidiary, Intercem Installation, was founded in 2007.
At present, Intercem Group consists of Intercem Engineering, Intercem Installation, both based in Oelde in Germany, and Intercem Cement, based in Zug in Switzerland. The company’s production plant is also located in Oelde. The three companies are wholly-owned subsidiaries of the Switzerland-based Intercem Holding. The group currently employs around 50 people, mainly engineers and technicians.
Intercem offers services in cement plant construction from a single source. This ranges from individual components to upgrades of existing plants up to complete cement plants. It exports around 80% of its services with its main sales markets in West Africa, France, Sweden and Germany.
Togo: Cimenterie de la Côte ouest-africaine’s (CimCo) new 2.5Mt/yr grinding plant in Lomé is preparing to produce its first cement in March 2022. Germany-based Intercem Engineering says that construction work has been completed on the project and that the cladding is in place. Currently, the cold commissioning is in progress. The plant will operate as a subsidiary of CimMetal Group.
Burkina Faso: Germany-based Gebr Pfeiffer is supplying a MVR 6000 C-6 type vertical roller mill for Cim Metal Group’s upgrade to its Cimasso cement grinding plant in Bobo Dioulasso. The mill, with an installed gear power of 6800kW, will be used on the plant’s second production line. The vertical mill can be used for different cement types between 4000cm²/g and 5000cm²/g according to Blaine and produces more than 400t/hr with its six active grinding rollers. The mill will be equipped with a SLS VC type classifier. The order also includes the delivery of a replacement gearbox. The upgrade project is being managed by Germany-based Intercem Engineering with Gebr Pfeiffer supplying the mill and the process design. The supplier says that this will be the first MVR mill to be installed in the country.
Cim Metal Group orders upgrade for cement grinding plant in Burkina Faso from Intercem Engineering
14 April 2021Burkina Faso: Cim Metal Group has ordered an upgrade to its Cimasso cement grinding plant in Bobo Dioulasso from Germany-based Intercem Engineering. The cement producer has decided to double the plant’s production capacity to at least 4Mt/yr by ordering an extension production line and upgrading the original line. The plant, which was also supplied by Intercem, was originally commissioned in 2018.
The new order includes: three truck unloading stations; raw material handling systems; a raw material hopper station; a cement grinding unit with a vertical roller mill; four 5400t cement silos; five 12 spout rotary packers; ten truck loading stations; ten truck weighing bridges; and one upgrade to the existing cement grinding plant. Intercem is in charge of the engineering, all mechanical and electrical plant components, project management and is also responsible for the supervision activities for the civil, mechanical and electrical assembly works and the commissioning of the plant. No date for commissioning has been announced.
Cimenterie de Côte Ouest-Africaine announces plans for 2.5Mt/yr cement plant in Togo
30 September 2020Togo: Cimenterie de Côte Ouest-Africaine (CimCo) says that it has hired Germany-based Intercem Engineering and Gebr. Pfeiffer for the supply and installation of a 2.5Mt/yr-capacity integrated cement plant in Lomé, Maritime Region. Togo First News has reported that the company has secured a US$35.8m loan from Banque Ouest Africaine de Développement (BOAD) towards construction of the US$179m plant.
CimCo said, “The targeted goal is to contribute to the satisfaction of cement demand in Togo and the region by taking advantage of the geographic location of the port of Lomé, as well as to contribute to the country's economic growth by boosting the competitiveness of the industrial sector along with performances of the infrastructure sector.”
Gebr. Pfeiffer delivers mill to Lomé grinding plant
30 March 2020Togo: Cim Metal Group subsidiary Cimco has received a Gebr. Pfeiffer 6400kW, CEM I - CEM IV MVR 6000 C-6 grinding mill. Germany-based Intercem Engineering will install the mill, which grinds CEM-I to a fineness of 3800cm2 at a rate of 370t/hr, at Cimco’s Lomé grinding plant.
Gebr. Pfeiffer has said that this is its 12th MVR mill installed on the African continent.
