Peru: Invercem has successfully commissioned its new 220,000t/yr Pisco grinding plant in Ica Department. Management News has reported that the plant cost US$30m to build. Cemex Peru will supply clinker for use in cement production at the plant. Invercem plans to supply cement produced at the plant to the Cusco market under the Patrón brand. The company says that the facility has the potential to further expand up to a capacity of 330,000t/yr. In the longer term, Invercem aims to establish an integrated cement plant and limestone mine.
Peru: Invercem plans buy equipment for a 0.25Mt/yr cement grinding plant in August 2018. The president of the company, Victor de la Torre, will travel to Spain to finalise the deal, according to the Gestión newspaper. Previously the project was scheduled to start in late 2017. Invercem imports cement from HeidelbergCement at Salaverry near Trujillo. It then bags and sells it locally under the Qhuna brand.
Invercem to open modular cement plant in April 2018
07 November 2017Peru: Invercem plans to build a cement grinding plant in Ica for US$20m. The modular plant will have a production capacity of 0.25Mt/yr, according to the Gestión newspaper. Construction is scheduled to start from December 2017 with completion planned for April 2018.
Previously, Invercem has imported cement from HeidelbergCement via the port of Salaverry. It then bagged and sold it locally under the Qhuna brand. As well as building its own plant the cement importer is also considering expansion plans in Ayacucho, Cusco and Iquitos.
