Egypt: The government has raised the price of gas to cement producers by 109% from US$5.75/one million British thermal units (BTU) to US$12/MBTU. South Valley Cement, Misr Cement Qena, Misr Beni Suef Cement, and Sinai Cement all said that the higher gas prices would not affect the cost of production because they have switched to using coal, according to the Daily news Egypt newspaper.
Misr Beni Suef Cement ends Arab Swiss Engineering Company contract
17 February 2021Egypt: Misr Beni Suef Cement has ended a contract with Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC). In April 2019 the companies signed a contract for ASEC to provide technical management at the producer’s plant. Reuters News has reported that the cement company will now undertake the operation of its production lines.
Misr Beni Suef’s first half profits plunge
23 August 2019Egypt: Misr Beni Suef Cement has reported net profits for the six months to 30 June 2019 of US$2.76m, down by 78.8% from US$13.0m in the same period of 2018. This is part of a wider profit slump for Egyptian domestic cement producers, with Misr Cement Qena’s first half figure down by 85.2% to US$0.87m from US$6.00m a year ago.
Hoffmeier delivers ball mill to Misr Beni Suef Cement
21 February 2017Egypt: Hoffmeier Industrieanlagen has delivered a ball mill to Misr Beni Suef Cement. The mill has a diameter of 6m, a length of 17.3m and its weighs 190t. The installation of the mill will start in April 2017 and is to be commissioned by the end of the year. Hoffmeier will also support the customer with its installation knowledge during the assembly phase. The German engineering company produces industrial heavy machinery including tube mills and rotary kilns.
Egypt: Misr Beni Suef Cement has delayed the installation of a coal mill at its Beni Suef plant to the third quarter of 2017. Farouk Mostafa, managing director of the company, said that the delay has been caused by a shortage of US Dollars needed to pay to import the mill and its spare parts and general currency variations with the Egyptian Pound that has raised prices, according to Daily News Egypt. The mill was originally planned for December 2016.
