Azerbaijan’s cement production rose in 2024
20 January 2025Azerbaijan: Cement production reached 4.03Mt in 2024, up by 1.6% year-on-year, according to the State Statistics Committee. The total value of the construction materials sector rose by 17% to US$823m. Production of bricks and similar products from cement and concrete increased by 41%, while cement clinker output grew by 16%.
Kyrgyzstan to ban road imports of cement
19 August 2024Kyrgyzstan: Starting on 1 October 2024, Kyrgyzstan will enforce a six-month road import ban on several types of cement including Portland cement, alumina cement and slag cement, according to Trend. The Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Japarov, signed the decree affecting both ready and clinker forms of these cements. According to the State Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan, a 76% year-on-year increase in cement imports from January - May 2024 has been reported, totalling 125,737t. These imports are predominantly from Iran, Kazakhstan, China and Uzbekistan.
Azerbaijan: The latest figures from the State Statistical Committee show a 35% year-on-year increase in the value of building materials produced in Azerbaijan, to US$102m in January - February 2024. Cement production notably surged to 546,000t in the two-month period, a 30% increase. However, clinker production fell by 17% year-on-year. The production of ready-mix concrete increased by 60%, but construction lime production dropped by 57%. These trends continued an increase in building materials production from 2023, when it rose by 32% from 2022 levels.
Azerbaijan grows its cement production by 4.6% in 2023
26 January 2024Azerbaijan: Cement production in Azerbaijan increased by 4.6% year-on-year to 3.73Mt in 2023, data from the State Statistics Committee has shown. Clinker production rose even more sharply, by 37%, to 3.87Mt. BNI IntelliNews has reported growth of 32% year-on-year in the overall value of building materials in 2023, to US$694m.
Uzbekistan increases nine-month production so far in 2023
31 October 2023Uzbekistan: The State Statistics Committee has reported that cement plants produced 9.2Mt of cement during the first nine months of 2023, up by 5.9% year-on-year from the corresponding period of 2022. The Uzbek Building Materials Producers’ Association says that the new 1.4Mt/yr Karakalpak cement plant will further add to full-year production volumes in 2023 when it comes online later in the year.
Azerbaijan: Data from the State Statistics Committee shows that cement production in Azerbaijan dropped by 5.2% year-on-year to 1.6Mt in the first half of 2019. This has been blamed on a poor market, according to the Turan Information Agency. Despite this, concrete mix sales increased by 20.5% to 0.78Mt.
