India: JSW Cement, part of JSW Group, has commissioned a 1Mt/yr cement grinding unit at Sambalpur, Odisha, through its subsidiary Shiva Cement. The addition raises JSW’s total installed capacity to 21.6 Mt/yr. According to the company, the new facility will help meet rising cement demand in eastern India. The project was developed and financed by Shiva Cement under a commercial arrangement with Bhushan Power and Steel, and will produce cement exclusively for Shiva Cement’s use and consumption.

JSW Cement CEO Nilesh Narwekar said “The eastern region of the country is poised for exponential growth in the coming years. This new state-of-the-art facility in Sambalpur marks a significant milestone in our journey to expand and consolidate our position in this market,” he said.

JSW Cement currently operates seven manufacturing plants across India, including one integrated unit, one clinker plant and five grinding units.

India: Penna Cement Industries, a subsidiary of Ambuja Cements, has commissioned a 2Mt/yr brownfield expansion of its cement grinding unit in Krishnapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. With this commissioning, Ambuja Cement’s consolidated cement capacity has risen to 106.45Mt/yr.

India: JK Lakshmi Cement has increased its cement production capacity from 16.5Mt/yr to 18Mt/yr following the commissioning of a new grinding unit in Surat and de-bottlenecking of cement mills at Jaykaypuram and Sirohi. According to the company’s filing, the Surat grinding unit adds 1.35Mt/yr.

Iraq: Multipower International (MPI) has announced the successful commissioning of Line 2 at Najmat Al Samawa Cement plant, according to a post on LinkedIn. The commissioning was carried out by MPI’s team, certified by Fives Pillard, with additional remote support from Fives Pillard experts.

Cold commissioning involved testing the fuel handling skids without load, checking instrument functions and resolving hardware and software discrepancies. Hot commissioning included testing the skids under load, burner alignment, flame detection, control valve calibration, automation integration and operation of the full system.

Greece: Heracles Group, a member of Holcim, has commissioned a 6.5MW solar power station at its Milaki plant, equipped with more than 11,000 panels. The facility is now fully operational.

The installation is expected to generate about 10,000MW/yr of electricity, covering a significant share of the plant’s energy needs and cutting CO₂ emissions by 2350t/yr.

India: Ramco Cements has commissioned an 8MW waste heat recovery system at its Ramasamy Raja Nagar cement plant. With this addition, the site’s waste heat power generation capacity has increased from 2MW to 10MW. The producer said its total waste heat power generation capacity has increased from 45.15MW to 53.15MW.

Fiji: Fijian Holdings subsidiary Pacific Cement (PCL) has resumed cement production following the completion of commissioning works on its repaired mill, according to the Fiji Times. Fijian Holdings deputy chair Sakiusa Raivoce said supply of bulk and bagged cement had normalised.

Production had halted in March 2025 due to a mill breakdown. Raivoce said PCL is now fast-tracking an upgrade of the existing mill to reduce future risks and improve reliability. Persistent failures in recent years had resulted in a reliance on cement imports to satisfy local demand.

India: Ambuja Cements subsidiary ACC has commissioned a 1.5Mt/yr brownfield grinding unit at its Sindri plant in Jharkhand. The project takes the total installed cement production capacity across Ambuja and ACC to 104.45Mt/yr.

Iraq: Delta Cement Company and Suzhou Sinoma have celebrated the completion of a 6000t/day clinker production line. The two partners completed construction, commissioning and production over a period of 16 months. The plant’s cement grinding equipment was commissioned on 24 December 2024, and the clinker line was commissioned on 30 June 2025.

Jamaica: TCL Group subsidiary Caribbean Cement has commissioned its US$42m debottlenecking project at its Rockfort plant in East Kingston. The capacity of the expanded kiln was not disclosed.

During a ribbon cutting ceremony, Prime Minister of Jamaica Andrew Holness said “When we invest in our factories, we invest in our families. When we strengthen our production capacity, we strengthen our national development. This project does more than support housing. It supports jobs. The expanded kiln will enable higher throughput, greater efficiencies, and potentially more stable employment for hundreds of workers.’

He added “Instead of importing, we will be exporting. Instead of consuming value-added goods, we will be producing them. This is the shift from dependency to self-determination.”

Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce Aubyn Hill said “Everywhere you go, cement is being used, and Caribbean Cement is doing a great job! We want every bag of cement used in Jamaica to be made here because, for every bag that we import, we send jobs overseas. Our job in Jamaica is to keep jobs here.”
