Uzbekistan: QuvasoyCement has installed Denair Energy Saving Technology (Shanghai)’s DV 315 compressors at its Fergana cement plant. The cement producer says that the new compressors increase performance by 95% compared to previous equipment. It predicts cost savings of US$25,100/yr as a result of the upgrade.
MAN Energy Solutions to supply compressor system for Norcem carbon capture and storage unit
29 December 2021Norway: Germany-based MAN Energy is supplying a compressor system for a carbon capture and storage (CCS) unit being built at Norcem’s Brevik cement plant. The scope of supply includes an RG 63-7 type electrically-powered compressor train. The steam generators cool the CO2 mixture between the compressor stages and generate steam that is in turn used for capture. The project will be the first to use the ‘Carbon Capture Heat Recovery’ technology (CCWHR) developed by MAN and Aker Carbon Capture. This new process allows the heat emerging from the compressor system to be recovered and used as steam to meet approximately one third of the total heat demand from the Aker Carbon Capture plant. Consequently, MAN says that the system solution demands less energy compared with conventional carbon-capture technologies.
Alexander Sobolyev, Head of Standardisation & Solutions at MAN Energy Solutions, said: "As part of the Norcem project, the digital-twin-based engineering approach of MAN Energy Solutions has led to concrete optimisations. The dynamic process simulation showed that originally planned system components, including heating, valves and additional pipes for safe plant operation, were not required. The time taken for a cold start of the plant can thus be reduced from around 12 hours to 20 minutes – an important characteristic as quick-start capability is always a central criterion for renewable energies."
Aerzen Rental launches new TVS2500 air compressor
02 December 2021Germany: Aerzen Rental has added its new TVS2500 air compressor to its 10-bar range of air compressors. Parent company Aerzen said that it developed the TVS2500 to set the standard for power density, energy efficiency and quiet running. The compressor is designed for large material volumes. A frequency converter facilitates optimal pressure and volume flow control, while variable speed control also enables a gentle start with a low starting current. The device can be used in any existing power network. Efficient cooling inside the units further ensures a regular supply of compressed air at ambient temperatures of up to 45°C.
Cementos Cosmos to upgrade Ourense grinding plant with new compressor
28 September 2021Spain: Cementos Cosmos plans to install a new screw compressor in the cement discharge system at its Ourense grinding plant in Galicia. The producer says that the new equipment will improve the energy efficiency of the process of discharging cement from railway tanks to storage silos. The cost of the work is Euro23,500, towards which Cementos Cosmos has received a Euro8140 grant from the European Reagional Development Fund (ERDF) under its A New Way to Build Europe programme.
Kizilkumcement completes energy saving upgrades
04 December 2017Uzbekistan: Kizilkumcement has upgraded its grinding separation process with five ZH15000-5-7 compressor units manufactured by Atlas Copco. Each of the new three-stage centrifugal air compressors has a capacity of 250m3. Energy saving aspects of the project include reducing the installed capacity of the compressor from 1600kW to 1400kW; electricity savings due to automatic capacity control, and accordingly the compressor power consumption when changing the compressed air flow rate at the output; and reduction of pressure loss in the pipeline by reducing the length of the duct by decentralising the compressor station and installing new compressors near the consumer of compressed air.
