LafargeHolcim Spain joins Spanish paving guild
17 December 2019Spain: Asociacón Española de Pavimentos Continuos (AEPC), the body which represents manufacturers and maintainers of cement-based and other related flooring, has welcomed LafargeHolcim Spain as a new member. AEPC states its aims as ‘promoting and demanding the highest levels of safety, quality and integrity in all paving sector activities.’
LafargeHolcim Spain operates an installed capacity of over 7.0Mt/yr across five integrated plants. In 2019 it announced an investment of Euro20m in upgrades aimed at reducing its net carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 90,000t/yr by the end of 2022.
Global Cement and Concrete Association expands membership to 36 companies and 15 affiliates
09 April 2019UK: The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has expanded its membership to 36 companies with its number of affiliates organisations rising to 15. The new members include Corporacion Moctezuma in Mexico, Unión Andina de Cementos (UNACEM) in Peru, JSW Cement in India and West China Cement in China.
The new affiliates include Oficemen (the Spanish Cement Association), the Cement Manufacturers Association of India, the Japan Cement Association, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association in the US, the European Concrete Platform and the Federacion Iboamericana del Hormigon Premezclado (FIHP) which covers Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula
“The continuing and rapid growth of the association’s membership is very encouraging. With a strong work program now underway it’s important that our authoritative voice represents the growing list of cement and concrete manufacturers committed to our principles of enhancing industry sustainability efforts and driving innovation.” said GCCA chief executive officer (CEO) Benjamin Sporton.
The GCCA was launched in 2018. It aims to represent at least 50% of global cement production capacity.
UK: The Mineral Products Association (MPA) has joined the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) as an affiliate member. Its application was confirmed at the GCCA’s inaugural annual general meeting and symposium in London, which took place in late November 2018.
“Our affiliation to GCCA builds on our valued membership of 12 European Regional Trade Associations covering aggregates, asphalt, cement, concrete, dimension stone, lime, mortar, silica sands. The strengthening of the link between the MPA’s national role, the regional associations and now the global level is a positive and logical next step in aligning the advocacy and influence of the industry in a fast changing and complex world,” said MPA chief executive officer (CEO) Nigel Jackson.
UK: Cement companies from Asia and North America are the latest to join the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA), bringing the total number of member companies to 20. News members include Mexico’s Grupo Cementos de Chihuahua (GCC), Israel’s Nesher Israel Cement, India’s Shree Cement and Taiwan’s Taiwan Cement Corporation. The number of GCCA affiliates is also growing with the addition of the Cámara Nacional del Cemento in Mexico the Federación Interamericana del Cemento (FICEM) in Colombia and the Union of Cement Producers – Soyuzcement in Russia.
GCCA members now include: Buzzi Unicem, Cementos Argos, Cementos Pacasmayo, Cemex, Çimsa Çimento, CNBM, CRH, Dangote Cement, Eurocement, GCC, HeidelbergCement, LafargeHolcim, Nesher Israel Cement, SCG Cement, Shree Cement Ltd, Taiheiyo Cement, Taiwan Cement Corporation, Titan Cement, UltraTech Cement and Votorantim.
The association added that further applications for membership and affiliate status have been received and are being processed.
GCCA expands to 16 members
04 September 2018UK: The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) reports that it continues to grow, with the addition of several new member companies from Europe, South America and Asia. In August 2018 there were six new members: Buzzi Unicem, Cementos Argos, Cementos Pacasmayo, Çimsa Çimento, SCG Cement and Titan Cement. The GCCA also welcomed the US Portland Cement Association (PCA) as an Affiliate.
Albert Manifold, GCCA President (and CEO of CRH) said, “We are delighted to welcome further cement and concrete companies and like-minded organisations to the GCCA. The GCCA was set up to provide the authoratitive global voice for this essential sector. With every new member, the voice becomes even stronger.”
The new members and affiliates join 10 existing member companies: Cemex, CNBM, CRH, Dangote Cement, Eurocement, HeidelbergCement, LafargeHolcim, Taiheiyo Cement, UltraTech Cement and Votorantim. Further applications for member and affiliate status have been received and are being processed.
Switzerland: Guatemala‘s Cementos Progreso has joined the Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI) as its first affiliate member. The new membership level was created by the CSI to expand its membership and provide an interim approach to joining the scheme. Affiliate members will be expected to achieve full membership within a three-year timescale.
