Pietro de Michieli appointed managing director of Aumund
17 October 2018Germany: Pietro de Michieli has been appointed as the managing director of Aumund. He assumed the role at the start of September 2018 and will focus on equipment sales, spare parts and after sales service.
Previously, de Michieli was the managing director of OMG MGM Cranes, part of Bedeschi Group. Prior to that he was chief operating officer of Bedeschi and a member of the board of directors responsible for the business unit bulk handling, marine logistics and mining and minerals, with a particular focus on sales, marketing, design, manufacturing, purchasing and project management.
Earlier in his career he was projects director with Endeco Engineering Design Construction and project manager at Danieli. He holds a doctorate in electro-mechanical engineering from the University of Padua, Italy.
Since January 2018 de Michieli has been a member of the board of directors of PEMA (Port Equipment Manufacturers Association), a forum and public voice for the global port equipment and technology sectors. He will support a bid for membership of PEMA by the Aumund group of companies.
Simon Shipp takes over at Aumund Corporation USA
06 June 2018US: Simon Shipp has taken over as general manager at Aumund Corporation USA, Aumund Fördertechnik’s subsidiary in the US. Shipp holds over 25 years of experience in mechanical engineering, in particular with conveying equipment for bulk materials. He succeeds Geoffrey Conroy, who has retired after 20 years in the role. Conroy will remain with the business as a consultant.
US: Simon Shipp has become the general manager of Aumund USA. He holds over 25 years of international experience in mechanical engineering, in particular with conveying equipment for bulk materials. Shipp succeeds Geoffrey Conroy who has held the post for nearly 20 years. Conroy will remain on the board in a consultant role.
UK: Samson Materials Handling has appointed Karl Woodhouse as its sales director with effect from February 2018. Woodhouse’s career in materials handling started almost 27 years ago with B&W Mechanical Handling, which became Samson Materials Handling in 2013. Samson Materials Handling, a subsidiary of Aumund Group, sells products in the bulk materials handling sector.
Germany: Aumund Fördertechnik has appointed Reiner Furthmann as its Managing Director Technology. He started the role on 1 March 2018. His main responsibilities are Research & Development, Design & Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production, Materials Management and Purchasing. Furthmann joined Aumund in 1984. His previous role with the company was as its Technical Director.
Aumund Fördertechnik announces Robert Gruss as new Managing Director
25 February 2015Germany: Aumund Fördertechnik has announced that Robert Gruss has been appointed as its new Managing Director. He is responsible for sales, service and technology as well as for research and development. He has been in post since 1 November 2014. Gruss will also join Volker Brandenburg on the managing board.
Gruss, aged 49 years, joined Aumund from SMS Siemag AG. He started his professional career with SMS in 1995. For several years he worked in Italy, China and Belgium in managing positions.
During 2015 Aumund's president, Franz-W Aumund, will gradually retire from operational business. He will continue as managing director of Aumund Holding and as member of the advisory boards of the product and daughter companies. Primarily he will dedicate himself to steering and controlling the Aumund Group. Gruss will take over additional responsibilities from the managing Franz-W Aumund.
Michael Mutz appointed head of cement sales at Aumund
09 August 2013Germany: Dr Michael Mutz has been appointed the head of cement sales at Aumund Fördertechnik. In his new role Mutz will oversee sales of both new equipment and retrofits. The new position will be in addition to Mutz's exisiting job as head of the Mineral Processing division (previously Mining & Minerals), which he assumed in April 2012. Aumund specialises in conveying and storage for the cement industry
Germany: Dr Michael Mutz has been appointed as the new head of division, Minerals & Mining, at Aumund Fördertechnik GmbH in Rheinberg.
"We are thus strengthening the team and we are advancing the business segment expansion in this prospering market," commented Aumund managing director Jörg Hoffmann on the appointment.
The 41 year-old from Westphalia, Germany comes from a mining family and has continued the family tradition, studying geology specialised in the exploration of solid mineral raw materials, oil and gas. Mutz started out with various mining prospecting projects, including Roland Berger and CPRM, the Brazilian state geological service.
After many years' activity in iron ore mining in Brazil (ThyssenKrupp) Mutz graduated from the Technical University of Clausthal in geology. His experience in the machinery and equipment business started in 2006 at Hazemag & EPR where he headed-up international sales and coordination of key accounts from 2008.
"The good reputation of the Aumund Group and the decades of successes in the cement, power and metallurgy sectors are a solid foundation to also gain a foothold as a supplier in the very service-oriented mining business," said Mutz.
Mutz has been in post at Aumund since April 2012.
