Shree Cement commissions Bangur grinding plant

India: Shree Cement has commissioned its new cement grinding unit at Bangur, Rohi Udaipur Udasar in Rajasthan. The plant has a grinding capacity of 3.60Mt/yr.

Shree Cement expands into UAE with purchase of Union Cement

12 January 2018

UAE: India’s Shree Cement has purchased Union Cement Company (UCC) based in the UAE for US$305m. Its board approved the acquisition of at least a 92.8% share in the company, according to the Press Trust of India. The transaction is expected to be completed by September 2018. Following the deal Shree Cement’s cement production capacity will rise to 33Mt/yr from 29.3Mt/yr. The acquisition is the company’s first outside of India.

UCC was established in 1972. It operates a cement plant Ras Al- Khaimah with a clinker production capacity of 3.3Mt/yr and a cement production capacity of 4Mt/yr.

Dalmia Bharat appoints Mahendra Singhi as Group CEO for Cement

India: Dalmia Bharat has appointed Mahendra Singhi as Group CEO for Cement. Singhi previously worked for Shree Cement as the Executive Director.

Currently, Singhi is the co-chair of the Cement Sustainability Initiative in India. He is also on the Board of Governors of the National Council for Cement & Building Materials (NCB), besides being a member of the Central Expert Technical Committee on the Cement Sector on PAT (Perform, Achieve and Trade) scheme of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Other positions held include tenure as president of the Rajasthan Cement Manufacturers Association and executive committee member of TERI BCSD. He was also leader of the Indian Cement Sector Task Force for Energy Conservation, constituted by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, at the central ministry of power.

Gangotri Cement appoints Rajendra K Shah as Independent Director

India: Gangotri Cement has appointed Rajendra K Shah as an additional Independent Director with effect from 25 November 2013. Shah has also been appointed as a member of the Audit Committee and Shareholders' Grievances Committee of the Board of Directors of the Company. Gangotri Cement said that Ravi Kamra had resigned as a Director due to personal and professional commitments.

Shree Cement appoints new director

India: Shree Cements appointed Dr Leena Srivastava as an additional Director of the company. The announcement was made to the Bombay Stock Exchange following a meeting held on 21 January 2013. With induction of Srivastava to the board of the company, the board now holds 10 members, with the number of independent directors in the board has increased to six.

India: Sagar Cements has appointed K Rajendra Prasad as its nominee director on the company's board. Previous to this Prasad was working as the deputy general manager (EPM) at the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation in Hyderabad.

Shree Digvijay Cement Company, a subsidiary of Cimpor, has reported that Antonio Carlos Custodio de Morais Varela resigned as a director of the company on 17 July 2012. The move follows Custodio de Morais Varela's assignment to the executive committee of Cimpor following the takeover of the Portuguese producer by Brazil's Camargo Corrêa.
