Italy: MDG Handling Solutions has been awarded the UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certification for ‘Design, engineering, production control entrusted to third parties and after-sales support of solutions for handling and storage of solid materials.’ MDG says that the new certification allows it to be a ‘top class partner’ for all cement end users.
MDG Handling Solutions is a material handling project consultancy that provides engineering and procurement (EP) services, engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services and supply of equipment. It was started by Davide Gambarotta in late 2017.
Medcem Çimento obtains ISO certification
06 June 2018Turkey: Medcem Çimento has obtained the ISO 14001-2015 certification for environmental management. The ISO 14000 family of standards provides tools for companies to manage their environmental responsibilities.
India: Heidelberg Cement India has been certified as over six times net water positive by TOV SOD, an independent certifying agency. During the 2016 – 2017 financial year the company’s cement plants withdrew 1.09kL of water from various sources but they harvested 6.97kL of water. This implies that the company collected more water from sustainable sources, such as rainfall, than it used. The company's multidimensional approach includes diverting rainwater to
reservoirs, installing water harvesting systems, reviving of bore wells, controlling seepage and educating its staff on water conservation.
HarbisonWalker International obtains ISO certification for refractory plants in Georgia and Kansas
29 March 2018US: HarbisonWalker International has obtained ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Thomasville monolithic and precast refractory plant in Georgia and its South Shore refractory brick plant in Kansas. The refractory manufacturer now plans to achieve the new ISO standard at the rest of its plants by the end of 2018.
Egypt: Khaled Fahmy, the Minister of Environment, has recognised the work by subsidiaries of Suez Cement to reduce air pollution and so called ‘black cloud’ periods. The minister presented certificates of appreciation to the manager of Helwan cement plant, Ahmad Ragae, the manager of Tourah cement plant, Omar Khorshid, the manager of the Environment Department at Helwan cement plant, Ragheb Hammouda and the manager of Environment Department at the Tourah cement plant, Badry Ibrahim.
