US: Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) has appointed Thomas Brooks as its chief technology officer (CTO). He previously worked as BHS’ Director of Technology and Product Development. Brooks was recently named a Waste360 40 Under 40 award winner. He has served in management and new product development roles in the aerospace, biomedical, industrial and automotive industries, among others. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Tennessee Tech University in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on controls and fluid dynamics.

Netherlands: Bulk Handling Systems (BHS) has appointed Remi Le Grand as Regional Sales Director for Max-AI. He will be responsible for the product sales team and business development in Europe. Previously, Le Grand spent six years in sales with BHS-subsidiary Nihot Recycling Technology based in Amsterdam.

UK: Northern Ireland’s Telestack plans to invest Euro5.8m towards upgrading its Omagh plant. The mobile bulk material handling system producer will build a new 4180m³ plant next to its existing site. The new unit will include production lines, a research and development centre and new office premises.

“Telestack has grown rapidly over the last number of years and we have firm plans to double our revenue again in the next three and a half years. We have out-grown our current facility and we need to extend our manufacturing footprint to meet the international demand for our products. We have made a conscious decision, even in the face of Brexit uncertainty, to invest locally” said Telestack’s managing director Martin Dummigan.

US: Bulk Handling Systems (NHS) has appointed Matthias Erdmannsdoerfer as managing director of Max-AI. Prior to this new role, Erdmannsdoerfer worked for more than six years as the president of National Recovery Technologies (NRT), a developer of optical sorting technology and subsidiary of BHS. In his new role Erdmannsdoerfer will be responsible for the Max-AI product line including sales, business development and product and application development.

Launched by BHS in 2017, Max-AI technology powers robotic sorters, optical sorters and reporting systems, and will continue to be integrated into new and existing equipment throughout material recovery facilities (MRFs). Since its inception, more than 50 Max-AI AQC (Autonomous Quality Control) robotic sorters have been sold in quality control (QC) applications of both fibre and containers.
