John King Group acquires DAB Valves
18 May 2023UK: John King Group has acquired valve manufacturer DAB Valves for an undisclosed amount. DAB Valves sells a variety of valves and associated equipment within their range from slide and butterfly valves to gravity flap diverter valves and drop out boxes. The 40-year old company is based near Parwich in Derbyshire.
David Wadworth the managing director of John King Group, said “In acquiring DAB Valves we have added a complementary range of products to the existing John King Group portfolio. We are delighted to announce that DAB Valves
will continue to be manufactured in our Yorkshire based factory where we have a full complement of machinery to be effective in this objective. We are delighted to harness our production capabilities with the on-going support of Bob Wright and the DAB Valves design team who have over 40 years of industrial and applicational expertise.”
Bob Wright, the managing director and owner of DAB Valves, added, “Selling the business to John King Group is an exciting one. Yes, it frees up some of my time and enables me to focus on what I love the most, which is the design and engineering of the Valves. Having John King Group ambitious team behind DAB Valves, I know will take the brand to the next level. John King Group says that its purchase of the DAB Valves brand will further strengthen its global support network and in-house design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
John King Chains opens warehouse in Poland
10 May 2023Poland: UK-based John King Chains has opened a new warehouse at Bydgoszcz to support the Central European market. The company said that the investment manufacturing and stock was confirmation its commitment to developing the market in continental Europe. It noted that the site will stock conveyor and transmission chains and would have a rapid response team to respond to customer demand.
John King Chains Group is a fifth-generation family-owned business, with the head office and principal manufacturing in the UK, along with a presence Africa, Asia Pacific, Central Europe, North America and South America.
John King Chains named MHEA Supplier of the Year
24 October 2022UK: The Materials Handling Engineers Association (MHEA) has named John King Chains as the UK’s Supplier of the Year to the materials handling industry.
Managing director David Wadsworth said “It is fantastic to achieve such a prestigious award, and one that confirms that our continual reinvestment into best manufacturing equipment and techniques over the years was the right decision, backed up by our remarkable workforce, who cannot be underestimated." John King Chains acquires Precision Chains
13 July 2021UK: John King Chains has agreed to acquire Precision Chains for an undisclosed price. The group said that Precision Chains’ heavy series chains production capabilities made it an attractive acquisition. It said that there is ‘untapped potential’ for heavy series chains production for the cement industry in the companies’ collaboration.
Managing director David Wadsworth said “The acquisition of Precision Chains represents a tremendous opportunity for John King Chains to further enhance its reputation as a leading manufacturer of conveyor chains and sprockets worldwide. We are committed to UK manufacturing and consider the potential for Precision Chains to flourish under the John King Chains umbrella is substantial.” He added that the company will retain the Precision Chains brand name for the ‘foreseeable’ future.
ScanChain opens new Polish plant
27 March 2020Poland: Denmark-based chain specialist ScanChain has announced that it will be producing and distributing chains from a new facility located in Poznan in the province of Greater Poland. The company says it has ended its partnership with a partial ownership by UK-based John King Chains.
Scan Chain said “Over the past three years we have seen a great growth in new markets. We are pleased that both ScanChain and John King Chains wish to establish a strong link going forward.”
US: John King Chains USA has joined the Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA). The association brings together over 370 industrial power transmission and motion control distribution channel and manufacturing companies.
UK: John King Chains has appointed Julie Precious as Chain Division Key Account Manager. The role is a newly created one and part of the group’s UK Sales team. Precious holds Key Account Management experience having worked for various blue chip clients. She also holds 16 years’ worth of knowledge from working for a materials handling and chain conveyor business.
John King Chains buys share in ScanChain
29 September 2017Denmark: The UK’s John King Chains has purchased a stake in ScanChain. The purchase is in support of a takeover of the business by the sales director Kåre Söderberg, who was one of the original founders of the chain and socket company in 2009. No value for the transaction has been disclosed.
“We see this union as a logical part of our expansion strategy with reciprocal benefits. Through ScanChain we have not only gained access to the Scandinavian market, but have enhanced our commercial and technical expertise within the Group. We have always identified Kåre as one of the key operators in the chain market and an individual who is customer driven, technically competent and ambitious in his plans for the future,” said John King Chains in a statement.
David Wadsworth, the managing director of John King Chains, added that ‘…the alliance between John King and ScanChain comes at a time when there has never been such a high degree of optimism for the future of a long-established British manufacturing business and all those associated with it.’
