Power Cement completes installation of machinery on third production line at Nooriabad plant
04 July 2019Pakistan: Power Cement says it has completed the procurement and installation of machinery on the new third production line at its Nooriabad plant. This includes a 2.46Mt/yr clinker line and a 2.72Mt/yr cement and dispatch line. The equipment was ordered from Denmark’s FLSmdith. The cement producer says the upgrade has made it the largest in southern Pakistan with a total clinker production capacity of 3.42Mt/yr and a cement capacity of 3.73Mt/yr.
Pakistan: Power Cement has provided an update on construction work towards building a third line at its Nooriabad plant. 97% of the equipment ordered from Denmark’s FLSmdith has been received. 22% of errection work has been completed. The design phase of a new 40MW grid station and its fixing has been completed and civil work has commenced. Overall civil work is reported 91% complete.
The cement producer ordered the new 7700t/day line from FLSmidth in 2017. China’s TEPC has been handling the construction and errection contract. China’s CECC Tianjin (Pakistan) Electric Power Construction has been in charge of civil construction.
Pakistan: Power Cement plans to take out a Euro30m loan from Germany’s Deutsche Investitions to finance building a 7700t/day new clinker production line. In mid-2017 the cement producer ordered a production line from Denmark’s FLSmidth for a third line at its plant at Nooriabad.
Pakistan: GE Power has won a contract to design, manufacture and deliver a 132/6.3kV air-insulated switchgear (AIS) grid station to support a new production line being built at Power Cement’s plant in Nooriabad. The project is expected to be completed in early 2019. It will supply the cement plant with a reliable electricity supply from the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.
FLSmidth consortium buys share in Power Cement
06 February 2018Pakistan: A consortium of investors including Denmark’s FLSmidth have purchased a stake in Power Cement. The investors include the Danish Investment Fund for Under-Developed Countries (IFU) and IFU Investment Partners (IIP). As part of the deal the board of the cement producer has approved the appointment of Anders Paludan as a director.
Pakistan: Power Cement has ordered a 7700t/day production line from FLSmidth for its plant at Nooriabad. The new line will be the third production at the site run by Arif Habib Group. The engineering, procurement and supply contract includes a complete range of equipment from crushing to packing and cement loading. No value for the order has been disclosed.
The order includes an ATOX 55 vertical mill for raw grinding, an ATOX 25 vertical mill for coal grinding, an EV 250x250 Hammer Impact Crusher, stacker and reclaimer systems for storage, a ROTAX-2 rotary kiln with low NOx ILC calciner, a JETFLEX burner prepared for future refuse derived fuel (RDF) use, a FLSmidth Cross-Bar cooler and two OK 39-4 vertical mills for cement grinding. Commissioning for the project is scheduled for the end of 2018.
Arif Habib Group to expand production at Power Cement plant
19 January 2017Pakistan: Arif Habib Group plans to spend US$235m on upgrading its Power Cement plant in Nooriabad to 3.37Mt/yr from 0.9Mt/yr. The upgrade will be completed by the end of 2019, according to the Express Tribune newspaper. Company chairman Nasim Beg said that he was hoping to take advantage of growing cement demand in the country as the effects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor heighten.
Power Cement has also completed a US$3.4m upgrade to its filter bag house equipment by installing new equipment to reduce dust emissions. Company officials say the plant is now capable of reducing dust emissions to just 17mg/m3. This is below the 300mg/m3 level set by the Environment Quality Standards in Pakistan and the World Bank’s limit of 100mg/m3 for old cement plants.
Power Cement announces new directors
29 May 2013Pakistan: Power Cement, formerly Al Abbas Cement Industries, has released the names of its directors for the period to 2016. Kashif Habib, Samad Habib, Muhammad Ejaz, Nasim Beg, Syed Salman Rasheed, M Yousuf Adil and Muhammad Yahya Khan are all set to be elected unopposed at the company's extraordinary general meeting to be held on 4 June 2013 in Karachi.
