India: Prism Johnson has appointed Raakesh Jain as Executive Director & CEO (Cement) with effect from 17 August 2024. His appointment will last for three years until mid-2027. He will succeed Vivek K Agnihotri, who has resigned.
Jain holds 30 years of experience in the building material industry working as the CEO of the cement division of Prism Johnson from late 2021. Before this he was the Chief Sales Officer for Nuvoco Vistas. Earlier in his career he spent nearly a decade with Lafarge India in sales roles. Before this he held sales positions for the white cement division of UltraTech Cement from the late 1990s onwards. He is a commerce graduate from Devi Ahilya University and holds a master of business administration in Marketing from Vikram University.
Prism Cement secures cement supply in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh from local grinding plants
19 October 2022India: Prism Cement, part of Prism Johnson, has signed supply agreements with three cement producers in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Mayflex Cement Industries, RLJ Infracement and Rockhill Hi-Tech Cement will supply the cement producer and distributor with cement from their respective grinding plants, which have a total capacity of 820,000t/yr. Prism Cement said that the agreements will help it to improve local availability in the strategic markets of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. Bihar contributed 19% of Prism Johnson's cement sales by volume in the 2022 financial year, and Uttar Pradesh 55%.
Mayflex Cement Industries reportedly commissioned its new 300,000t/yr Faizabad grinding plant in Uttar Pradesh earlier in 2022.
India: Prism Johnson has added a proposed addition of 1Mt/yr to the cement grinding production capacity at its 5.6Mt/yr integrated plant at Satna in Madhya Pradesh. The project is expected to cost around US$34m with a scheduled commissioning date by September 2023. In January 2021 the cement producer said it was considering investing US$19m in a 0.9Mt/yr expansion to the Satna plant with a commissioning date by December 2021.
Prism Johnson commissions waste heat recovery plant and solar power plant at Prism cement plant
31 March 2021India: Prism Cement has established a 12MW waste heat recovery (WHR) plant and 10MW solar power plant at its 6.1Mt/yr-capacity integrated Prism cement plant in Satna, Madhya Pradesh. The plant’s total WHR capacity now totals 22MW, with a total of 23MW solar power capacity. The measures are part of the producer’s sustainability initiatives, by which it aims to reduce its reliance on non-renewables.
India: Prism Johnson, formerly known as Prism Cement, has received a letter of intent from the state government of Madhya Pradesh allocating it a mining lease for limestone. The agreement lasts 50 years for a site at Bairiah and Chormari villages and it includes approximately 77Mt of reserves.
India: Manish Bhatia has been appointed as the chief financial officer of Prism Cement. He succeeds Pramod K Akhramka who has resigned from the company. Bhatia holds over 20 years experience in corporate finance.
India: Prism Cement has appointed Raveedra Chittoor as an additional director to its board. Chittoor holds a post graduation qualification from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad and is a Fellow of Management from the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta. He has 12 years of industry experience in corporate finance and investment management. Chittoor is currently an associate professor at the Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria in Canada. Prior to this he taught at the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad and the Indian Institute of Management in Calcutta.
India: Prism Cement has received a letter of intent from the state government of Madhya Pradesh to grant it a lease to mine cement grade limestone at Chulhi and Majhiyar, Satna district for 50 years. The lease covers reserves of about 23.6Mt and it applies to the cement producer’s plants in the state.
Rajesh Kapadia resigns from Prism Cement
20 July 2016India: Rajesh Kapadia has resigned from Prism Cement as its chairman and non-executive, non-independent director. The resignation takes immediate effect. Kapadia cited poor health for his decision.
Prism Cement secures coal contract from Coal India
01 July 2016India: Prism Cement has purchased 120,000t/yr of coal from South Eastern Coalfields, a subsidiary of Coal India. The cement producer successfully bid for the fuel in a recently held auction of coal linkages for the cement industry. The company said that it has secured part of its fuel requirement for the next five years and the allocation by Coal India has been made at the floor price.
