Schmersal Group opens new branch in Dubai
30 July 2019UAE: Germany’s Schmersal Group has set up a new subsidiary ‘Schmersal Middle East-FZE’ to focus on business in the Middle East. The new company has opened an office in Dubai to support its development in the region. Uwe Seeger, Director of Asia Pacific Middle East at Schmersal Group said that he expected ‘great potential’ from the area.
Schmersal Group builds switchgears for the protection of machines and plants in industrial automation and lift industry. It is represented with its own corporations and distribution partners in over 60 countries.
Schmersal to promote HDS switchgear series at Bauma 2019
01 March 2019Germany: Schmersal Group will be demonstrating its new HDS switchgear series for heavy industry at the Bauma construction machinery trade fair in April 2019. The basis of the new platform is a standardised enclosure concept, which is available in two versions: plastic and grey cast iron. Typical application areas for the product include emergency-stop deactivation, belt misalignment monitoring in the transport of bulk materials, end position monitoring in steel making and level monitoring in material silos.
“With the modular HDS switchgear platform, we’ve created a product that our customers can use flexibly over a wide range of applications. The HDS platform can also be used worldwide thanks to its international approvals,” said Udo Sekin, heavy industry sector manager at the Schmersal Group.
Schmersal appoints Axel Schneider as new chief technology officer
12 December 2018Germany: Schmersal has appointed Axel Schneider as its new chief technology officer (CTO). The 49-year old is a graduate in electrical engineering. Previously, he worked in senior positions at international companies in the automation and telecommunications industry. He holds experience in product development, network technology and industrial IT systems. Schneider has also completed various additional courses on agile product development and project and change management and is a certified Professional Scrum Product Owner.
As head of the research and development (R&D) Division at the Schmersal Group, Schneider will be responsible for the global coordination and reconciling of development capacities and innovation projects. This includes, among other things, the establishment of group wide R&D standards and the continuous advancement of Schmersal’s global product portfolio.
Germany: Schmersal Group has appointed Andreas Balack as the new manager of its South Germany sales region. The 44-year old holds over 20 years of sales experience with knowledge of the plastics processing sector. He previously worked as the deputy sales manager at a company selling safe automation technology. At Schmersal he manages a team of 25 people, comprising customer service employees, product managers and engineers.
Tetsuya Horimoto appointed as managing director of new Schmersal subsidiary in Japan
24 January 2018Japan: Tetsuya Horimoto has been appointed as the managing director of Schmersal Group’s new subsidiary in Japan, Schmersal Japan. He succeeds Tekashi Kabe who ran the group’s sales office in Tokyo. Horimoto is an electronic engineer with management experience at companies in the automation sector. He is also a TÜV-certified Functional Safety Engineer. The company, which operates switchgear and control device products, will continue operating out of its Tokyo office.
Germany: Schmersal Group has entered into a sales partnership with ScanMin Africa to extend its range of system solutions for the bulk goods industry. Schmersal will add spectral analysis and measurement systems for bulk goods on conveyor belts to its range of integrated system products. ScanMin Africa will distribute safety products made by Schmersal.
“We can now offer extended system solutions that contribute to our customer’s ability to produce more productively and profitably in bulk goods conveying and also the downstream processes,” said Udo Sekin, Business Development Manager Heavy Industry within the Schmersal Group.
Germany’s Schmersal Group develops and produces a range of about 25,000 different switchgear and control devices. South Africa’s ScanMin Africa specialises in the manufacture and distribution of on line process analysers.
Germany: Michael Ambros has been appointed as the managing director of KA Schmersal, part of the Schmersal Group. Ambros is responsible for the Administration and Sales & Marketing divisions on a global basis. Fellow managing director Michael Mandel will run the technical divisions alongside Ambros. The company’s management team includes both Ambros and Mandel, plus two managing shareholders, Heinz and Philip Schmersal. The Schmersal Group develops and produces a range of switchgear and control devices.
