Saudi cement sales fall in March 2025
14 April 2025Saudi Arabia: Total cement sales in Saudi Arabia dropped by 2% year-on-year to 3.61Mt in March 2025 from 3.70Mt in March 2024, according to data from Yamama Cement. Domestic sales fell by almost 4% to 3.45Mt, while exports rose by 36% to 158,000t from 116,000t. Arabian Cement recorded the highest increase in domestic sales at 26%, followed by Al-Safwa Cement with 22%. Umm Al-Qura Cement posted the steepest drop at 36%, while Tabuk Cement’s fell by 34%. Al-Jouf Cement’s sales remained unchanged at 102,000t.
Three companies exported a total of 158,000 tons of cement in March 2025. Saudi Cement led with 139,000t. Clinker production fell by 6% to 5.1Mt, while clinker inventories grew 5% to 44.3Mt. Saudi Cement also led clinker exports with 153,000t, followed by Northern Region Cement with 58,000t.
Tabuk Cement reports rise in production costs due to fuel prices
08 January 2025Saudi Arabia: Tabuk Cement has announced a 10% increase in production costs following a fuel price adjustment by Saudi Aramco, effective 1 January 2025. The financial impact will reflect in the company’s results from the first quarter of 2025.
Egypt: Reliance Heavy Industries (RHI) has appointed Sameh Saleh as its chief executive officer. He holds over 30 years of experience in the cement sector in both plant operation and engineering. Notably he worked for Arabian Cement for 10 years as a plant manager and then its chief operations officer. He later managed the company’s alternative fuels subsidiary Egypt Green. Other notable placements include those with Tabuk Cement, RHI and the Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC).
Sameh Saleh trained in mechanical engineering at Cairo University. He later gained a qualification in project management and an executive master of business administration degree from the American University in Cairo.
Yazid bin Khalid Al-Shathri appointed as chair of Tabuk Cement
01 February 2023Saudi Arabia: Tabuk Cement has appointed Yazid bin Khalid Al-Shathri as the chair of its board of directors. Other staff assignments include the appointment of Tariq bin Khalid Al-Anqari as vice-chair of the board and Amal Bint Hussein Redaa as secretary to the board. The company held an election in late December 2022 to appoint its board of directors from late January 2023 to January 2026.
