Matthias Mersmann returns to KHD
19 February 2020Germany: Matthias Mersmann has been appointed by the Supervisory Board as a new member of the Management Board of KHD Humboldt Wedag International AG, effective 1 February 2020. He contributes his long-term expertise in the technology of cement manufacturing processes and equipment design, which he has acquired in various executive positions with OEM suppliers as well as an independent consultant. From 1994 to 2008, Mersmann worked for KHD Humboldt Wedag in Cologne and became familiar with the product portfolio, the staff and cement clients.
After leaving KHD in 2008, Mersmann founded the cement consultancy aixergee GmbH and specialised on the optimisation of equipment of all kinds and makes for the manufacture of cement. He was also called into the Executive Committee of Loesche GmbH for five years, where he was responsible for the technology of the Loesche products.
"While the cement industry emits 7% of all man-made CO2-emissions alone, a future without cement is unthinkable,” says Mersmann. “This, along with the digital transformation, will set the frame for all industry participants to re-shape their way of doing business. For KHD this provides so much more an opportunity than it provides a problem. KHD has a combination of advantages that can help it to develop a prosperous future, if we work it out right. It will take all our ambition and motivation and maybe a lot of ‘new thinking, ’ but it will be worthwhile. I am looking forward to cooperating with the best engineers in the industry and a highly qualified and motivated team in the management board to bring KHD back into a leading position of the cement equipment suppliers.”
Mario Zhu, CEO of KHD, said, “We are all very happy at the return of Matthias back to KHD! I am sure with his leadership KHD technology team shall be further strengthened and thus bring further benefit to our clients and the global cement industry.”
Aixergee holds seminar on production optimisation
02 November 2018Germany: Aixergee has held its annual workshop-seminar on process optimisation for cement producers. The two-day event took place in Aachen in early October 2018. It covered improvements in the cement production process, including production increases, emissions regulations, alternative fuel burning and related topics. Aixergee uses a modelling toolbox from over 200 optimisation projects it has been involved with and a particular focus was on methods such as CFD (computational fluid dynamics), flowsheet simulation and data analysis.
Loesche buys majority of aixergee and aixprocess
31 January 2013Germany: German cement industry supplier Loesche GmbH has acquired the majority of stakes in the aixprocess and aixergee engineering companies based in Aachen, Germany.
aixprocess GmbH develops models and tools for the simulation of complex process and flow-relevant processes and has been providing solutions successfully to customers from the power plant and process engineering sectors for more than 10 years. It has earned its reputation internationally by providing modelling and computation technologies, especially in the area of reactive multi-phase flows.
aixergee GmbH is specialised in the optimisation of production processes in the cement industry and established internationally in the areas of alternative fuel firing, performance improvement, emissions reduction and stabilisation of plant operation. It combines industry-specific knowledge with numerical computation methods customised to meet the requirements of the cement industry in its optimisation concepts.
"Through the incorporation into Loesche Group, a globally well-positioned organisation, we can even better ensure the successful support of our international clientèle," explains Matthias Mersmann who, as Corporate Manager of Technology of Loesche Group, will continue to act as Managing Director of aixergee GmbH.
"We do not intend to act as a single source supplier for every project; however, we would like to offer the best solutions for the challenging tasks of our customers. We are therefore extremely pleased to have been able to ncorporate aixprocess and aixergee, two sector leading companies, into our group. In this way we continue to strengthen our position as a competent partner for the cement, power plant, and natural resource industries," said Dr Thomas Loesche, Managing Partner of Loesche GmbH.
