Argentine cement despatches rise by 23% to 12.1Mt in 2021
24 January 2022Argentina: Data from the Association of Portland Cement Manufacturers (AFCP) shows that total cement despatches grew by 23% year-on-year to 12.1Mt in 2021 from 9.87Mt in 2020. Cement consumption rose at a similar rate to despatches. However, exports fell by 13% to 115,000t in 2021 from 132,000t in 2020. Annual cement despatches have previously fallen in consecutive years since 2018. This trend started to change in the autumn of 2021.
Pakistan: All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) members dispatched 27.5Mt of cement in the first half of the 2022 financial year, down by 4.1% year-on-year from 28.6Mt in the first half of the 2021 financial year. The News International newspaper has reported that exports fell by 32%during the period to 3.39Mt from 5.02Mt.
Colombia: Cement production grew by 33% to 6.50Mt in the first half of 2021 from 4.89Mt in the same period in 2020. Data from DANE, the Colombian statistics authority, shows that local despatches rose by 34% to 6.20Mt from 4.61Mt.
Six-month cement dispatches and exports rise in Pakistan
07 January 2021Pakistan: Cement dispatches in the first half of the 2021 financial year were 29Mt, up by 16% year-on-year from 25Mt in the first half of the 2020 financial year. The Pakistan Observer has reported that the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturing Association (APCMA) recorded an 11% year-on-year rise in December 2020 dispatches to 4.8Mt from 4.3Mt. Exports for the half were 5.0Mt, up by 15% from 4.4Mt.
Pakistani five-month cement dispatches rise
07 December 2020Pakistan: Cement dispatches in the five months to 30 November 2020, the first five months of the 2021 financial year, were 24Mt, up by 17% year-on-year from 20Mt over the corresponding period of the 2020 financial year. Data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA) shows that exports grew by 22% to 4.4Mt from 3.6Mt. The Nation newspaper has reported that November 2020’s dispatches were up by 4% year-on-year to 4.5Mt from 4.3Mt, while domestic demand rose by 6% to 3.7Mt from 3.5Mt. Five-month demand also rose, by 16% to 19Mt from 17Mt.
Pakistan dispatches record monthly cement volumes in September 2020
05 November 2020Pakistan: Cement producers dispatched a record 5.74Mt in October 2020. Exports rose by 12% to 875,000t from 784,000t. The Nation newspaper has reported that the figure brings Pakistan’s total dispatches for the first four months of the 2021 financial year, from 1 July 2020 to 31 October 2020, to 19.3Mt, up by 20% from 16.1Mt in the first four months of the 2020 financial year.
The All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association said that cement consumption may increase further if the government rationalises duties and taxes and withdraws excise duty.
Pakistan increases cement dispatches by 5% to 3.52Mt in August 2020
07 September 2020Pakistan: Cement dispatches increased by 5% year-on-year to 3.52Mt in August 2020 from 3.35Mt in August 2019. Domestic sales rose by 4.8% to 2.79Mt from 2.67Mt, while exports rose by 5.8% to 0.73Mt from 0.69Mt. Plants in northern Pakistan produced 2.49Mt of cement (52% of total production), while those in the South produced 2.35Mt (48%).
Argentina: Cement despatches fell by 30.6% year-on-year to 3.83Mt in the first half of 2020 from 5.51Mt in the same period in 2019. Data from the Asociación de Fabricantes de Cemento Portland (AFCP) shows that monthly despatches from the local market, exports and imports hit a low of 0.41Mt in April 2020, a 55% year-on-year drop, before starting to recover. Despatches were 0.80Mt in June 2020m , a 7% decline from 0.86Mt in June 2019. Local consumption has fallen by a similar proportion.
Pakistan: Cement producers dispatched 47.8Mt of cement in the 2020 fiscal year, which ended on 30 June 2020, up by 2% year-on-year from 46.9Mt in the 2019 fiscal year. Data from the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association shows that the largest area of growth was in cement exports from southern Pakistan, up by 46% to 5.88Mt from 4.01Mt, while northern exports fell by 22% to 1.97Mt from 2.53Mt. Conversely, domestic dispatches fell by 29% in the south to 5.64Mt from 7.98Mt, and rose by 6% in the north to 34.3Mt from 32.4Mt, thus constituting 72% of total dispatches.
Russia: The railways transported 11.4Mt of cement in the first half of 2020, down by 11% year-on-year from 12.4Mt in the first half of 2019. Beton News has reported that the figure is the lowest in a decade, down by 33% from17.0Mt in the record first half of 2012.
