Cement Corporation of India begins equipment tendering process for Adilabad cement plant shutdown

18 May 2022

India: Cement Corporation of India has called for e-tenders for its mothballed Adilabad cement plant's equipment for a sale of the plant's assets prior to its permanent closure and decommissioning. The state-owned company will receive offers until 23 May 2022 and will open bids after 120 days. The New Indian Express newspaper has reported that a planned airport will take up some of the land currently occupied by the plant in Telangana.

The US$7.73m Adilabad cement plant was operational between 1982 and 1998. It reportedly has sufficient limestone reserves to continue cement production until 2122.

Conveyor Components launches new SBR belt cleaner

21 April 2022

US: Conveyor Components has announced the launch of its SBR belt cleaner, a smaller version of its original brush-style belt cleaner. The cleaner uses an electric motor to drive a helical shaped, open face brush. Its hanger rail mounting allows for field customisable mounting on most conveyors. The supplier says that the product efficiently removes fines and carry-back material without clogging or loading.

Kanodia Cement commissions Amethi grinding plant

India: Kanodia Cement has commissioned its new Amethi cement plant in Uttar Pradesh. The plant consists of four grinding units spread over an area of 18ha. Indo-Asian News Service has reported that the facility’s equipment includes two 12-spout rotary packers and six floor-mounted truck loading machines, supplied by Denmark-based FLSmidth. Kanodia Cement says that the new plant marks progress in line with its sustainable development plant. Its operations will directly and indirectly employ 1000 people.

ThyssenKrupp Polysius secures order for two roll units

07 April 2022

US: ThyssenKrupp Polysius has won an order for the supply of two of its roll units with compound cast roll bodies at a US cement facility. The equipment will form part of a Polycom high-pressure grinding roll. ThyssenKrupp Polysius’ Germany and US service teams will collaborate on the order, for delivery in March 2023.

Monarch Cement increases sales in 2021

16 March 2022

US: Monarch Cement’s net sales were US$212m in 2021, up by 12% year-on-year from US$189m in 2020. Its cement sales volumes increased by 12% year-on-year to 1.2Mt. Monarch Cement invested US$24m in new equipment in 2021, including 27 new ready-mix trucks, six new cement haul trucks, three loaders and two excavators. It plans to launch Portland limestone cement (PLC) products later in 2022.

Entsorga supplies solid recovered fuels storage, feeding and dosing systems to Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa

Indonesia: Entsorga has dispatched two Spider bridge cranes and two Pelican feeding and dosing systems for the construction of two new solid recovered fuel (SRF) storage, feeding and dosing systems at Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa’s 11.9Mt/yr Citeureup cement plant in Bogor Regency. The systems will have a total capacity of 50t/hr. An advanced supervision system will monitor and control their 24-hour operation. The Italy-based supplier says that both lines are highly automated and will reduce both CO2 emissions and fuel consumption.

CEO Francesco Galanzino “The systems will help the cement plant to maintain its 2030 sustainability commitments, in line with the policies of HeidelbergCement who is a real first mover in the path toward sustainability. Such project it is a very important step in a Country where environmental policies are in their early stage.”

SIEBTECHNIK TEMA launches Bulkinspector pycnometer

Germany: SIEBTECHNIK TEMA has launched its Bulkinspector automatic gas pycnometer. The pycnometer can help cement producers to obtain precise measurements of bulk materials’ densities. The interior of its insulated system housing is covered with Peltier elements and can be heated or cooled as required to keep the temperature of the material constant for the measurement. The equipment calibrates automatically and provides reproducible measured data with low standard deviation.

Lanwa Sanstha Cement commissions Hambantota grinding plant

Sri Lanka: Lanwa Sanstha Cement has successfully commissioned its 2.8Mt/yr Hambantota grinding plant in the Mirijjawila Export Processing Zone. Daily News (Sri Lanka) has reported that the facility is equipped with two bridge ship unloaders and an automated stacker reclaimer yard. It will produce the company’s full range of cements, including ordinary Portland cement (OPC), Portland composite cement (PPC) and blended hydraulic cement (BHC) catering to the rising local demand from landmark projects including the Port City and the network of expressways.

FCT Combustion delivers Turbu-Flex burner for HeidelbergCement’s Hanover cement plant

Germany: Australia-based FCT Combustion has successfully delivered a new Turbu-Flex burner to replace the existing burner at HeidelbergCement’s Hanover, Lower Saxony, cement plant. FCT Combustion will also supply burner accessories and add-ons, an igniter, a flame sensor, fans, blowers and spare parts. The project aims to improve combustion control and maximise alternative fuel (AF) use in the plant’s cement production.

FLSmidth to carry out Pacasmayo cement plant upgrade

15 December 2021

Peru: FLSmidth has secured a contract for the supply of a new pyro line for Cementos Pacasmayo’s Pacasmayo cement plant near Lima. The new line will give the plant an additional production capacity of 0.6Mt/yr. The supplier says that it plans to install a Cross-Bar cooler, low-NOx calciner, Jetflex burner, equipment for dosing and feeding and process automation. FLSmidth says that the upgrade will reduce the plant’s energy consumption and open new opportunities for the use of alternative fuel (AF).

FLSmidth’s head of projects and upgrades and senior vice president Anders Josefsen said “We are very excited to work with Cementos Pacasmayo on this project – not only on growing the business, but doing it in a sustainable way. The new line will be equipped with a state-of-the-art pyro system including several of our MissionZero solutions. With this, Pacasmayo makes a significant investment in future-proofing its production.” He added “The Pacasmayo project is a prime example of our capabilities within process design: ensuring the integration to an existing plant, while also demonstrating our ability to deliver equipment that meets demands for energy and fuel efficiency.”
