India: Ramco Cements has commissioned a 3000t/day integrated cement line at its Ramamasamy Raja Nagar cement plant in Tamil Nadu. Projects Today News has reported that the plant runs on renewable energy from a captive wind farm, and recycles 90% of water used in production.
Ramco Cements produces Ramco 53 Infra Super cement at the Ramamasamy Raja Nagar plant. The product allows for lower cement and admixture content to be used in the production of concrete structures.
Saudi Arabia: Southern Province Cement has secured a loan worth US$373m from Saudi National Bank. The loan will cover its construction of a 5000t/day production line at its upcoming Jizan cement plant, as well as the construction of infrastructure for a second new line of the same capacity at the plant. The producer appointed China-based Sinoma International Engineering to build the plant in May 2023.
Reuters has reported that the loan has a duration of 10 years and a two-year grace period.
Bekabadcement to expand Bekabad cement plant
09 June 2023Uzbekistan: Bekabadcement is carrying out a 'large-scale' upgrade to its 0.7Mt/yr Bekabadcement plant in Tashkent Region. The producer said that the upgrade involves a 20% capacity expansion of the plant's production line to 2500t/day. Austria-based Unitherm CemCon supplied burners for the upgraded line, while China-based Beijing Triumph International Engineering supplied heat exchanger components and a KC 4.1-0955 cooler. The upgrade also involves the installation of new kiln lining, and will transition the plant's cement production from wet to dry process. Germany-based Christian Pfeiffer previously upgraded the Bekabad cement plant's grinding unit in April 2023.
General director Vasily Korobkin "We see that (parent company) United Cement Group (UCG) is interested in the modernisation and development of the enterprise. The group adheres to international standards, so all plans for the development of the plant are built accordingly." He concluded "We expect to become a modern and successful enterprise in Uzbekistan which is capable of becoming a major player in the cement industry of Central Asia.”
Sinoma International Engineering wins Southern Province Cement Jizan cement plant contract
22 May 2023Saudi Arabia: China-based Sinoma International Engineering has won an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to build Southern Province Cement's upcoming Jizan cement plant, in the province of the same name. YiCai Global News has reported that the plant will have a capacity of 1.83Mt/yr. Commissioning is scheduled to follow 27 months after the start of construction. Sinoma International Engineering's contract covers installation of the entire line, from limestone crushing to cement bagging. The value of the work is US$300m.
Fellow CNBM subsidiary Sinoma Overseas Development previously won a US$220m contract with Yamama Cement for transferal of its Riyadh cement plant's new Line 7 from its old plant to its new location.
Bestway Cement inaugurates Mianwali cement plant
30 March 2023Pakistan: Bestway Cement has ignited the kiln of Line 1 of its Mianwali cement plant in Punjab. The line has a capacity of 2.3Mt/yr. The Pakistan Observer newspaper has reported that it increases the producer's cement capacity by 18% to 15.3Mt/yr and brings its total number of production lines to eight. The Mianwali cement plant is equipped with a 20MW solar power plant and will run on 50% renewable energy. It also has a 9MW waste heat recovery (WHR) plant, an air cooled condenser (ACC) system and a rainwater harvesting system.
Bestway Cement CEO Lord Zameer Choudrey said "It's a great day for the company. Our new greenfield production line at Mianwali has been set up in a record time, despite various hurdles and supply chain disruptions caused by Covid-19."
Nexe appoints ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions for new kiln line and carbon capture installation
15 March 2023Croatia: Nexe has awarded a contract to Germany-based ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions for the construction of a new clinker line and carbon capture installation at its 0.6Mt/yr Nasice cement plant. The Poslovni Dnevnik newspaper has reported that the work will cost Euro400m. When commissioned in 2029, the upgraded plant will produce carbon neutral cement and despatch 700,000t/yr of CO2 by pipeline for storage near Bockovac in Osijek-Baranja County.
Wonder Cement ignites Chittorgarh cement plant's fourth kiln
21 November 2022India: Wonder Cement has completed a successful kiln ignition in its Chittorgarh cement plant's new Line 4. The three pre-existing lines gave the plant a former capacity of 8Mt/yr. Wonder Cement additionally operates grinding plants in Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, with a total capacity of 5Mt/yr.
Vice chair Vimal Patni's technical assistant Lokesh Lohar congratulated the entire Chittorgarh cement plant team on its work on the latest expansion.
Yamama Cement to begin line move in early 2023
08 November 2022Saudi Arabia: Yamama Cement has announced the signing of a contract to transfer its seventh cement line from its old factory to its new plant location. The project, which follows similar moves for other lines, will start in the first quarter of 2023 and cost an estimated US$220m. The company expects the project to be completed during the second half of 2025.
The project, to be overseen by China-based Sinoma Overseas Development, will include dismantling, transporting and reinstalling the equipment, in line with Saudi Arabia’s 2030 vision to keep pace with its many development projects. After the trial run period is completed, it is expected to have a positive impact on the company's financial results.
US: Vicat subsidiary National Cement Company of Alabama inaugurated its new US$300m production line at its Ragland cement plant on 21 July 2022. Local press has reported that the line includes a new rotary kiln, equipped for alternative fuel (AF) use.
President Spencer Weitman said “This puts us into the next 40 or 50 years. And it’s prolonged the life of the plant to move us forward into the next century hopefully.”
Saudi Arabia: Southern Province Cement has completed technical studies and commenced construction of a new 5000t/day line at its Jazan cement plant. The company will also build the infrastructure for another 5000t/day line at the site. Reuters new has reported that, together, the lines will replace the plant’s existing production lines.
