Dalmia Cement completes new school building in Barunia
12 February 2021India: Dalmia Bharat subsidiary Dalmia Cement has inaugurated a new school building that it has built in Barunia, Odisha. The Orissa Diary newspaper has reported that the work was part of a US$7690 project which also included the refurbishment of two existing classrooms.
Projects executive directorRamawatar Sharma said, "The access to quality education is a basic human right. As a company, we have always believed in providing opportunities to the best of our capacity and helped in laying the foundation for a better life for everyone. We are optimistic that with the renovation of the school infrastructure, the students will feel motivated to attend classes and continue working towards building a better future for them."
El Salvador: Holcim El Salvador has enlarged its partnership with the Environmental Fund of El Salvador (FonAES) to provide an environmental awareness education programme to 6000 pupils across six schools. The Noticias Financieras newspaper has reported that Holcim El Salvador will give a total of US$12,400 to the programme in 2020, up by 1.5% year-on-year from US$12,200 in 2019.
Austria: w&p Zement has announced that it has donated an ABB robotic arm from a laboratory at its 0.8Mt/yr Weitersdorf plant to the mechatronics department of Klagenfurt Higher Technical College (HTL). The company replaced the 10kg-capacity, 1.55m armature with a fully automated POLAB cement laboratory as part of an upgrade for Industry 4.0. w&p Zement Weitersdorf operations manager Florian Salzer said, “We are pleased that the robot will continue to be of use, increasing the quality of technical training and thus laying the foundation for training tomorrow's top specialists.” He said that the equipment is in perfect condition because of the low weight of samples for which it was used.
Cementos Portland Valderrivas Alcalá de Guadaíra plant announces winners of children’s painting competition
25 December 2018Spain: Cementos Portland Valderrivas’ (CPV) Alcalá de Guadaíra plant has awarded first place in its children’s painting competition to Eva María Gómez, a student at the nearby CEIP Ángeles Martín Mateo primary school. The student depicted the daily work conducted at the plant in vibrant colours. Second place went to Lucía López from the same school. Special mention was also made to Ainhoa Manzano. The competition was run with the Andalusian Foundation for Cement and Environment (FLACEMA).
