Conch delegates visit Eurocement
10 November 2015Russia/China: A delegation from Conch company, one of China's largest building materials corporations, has visited Russia to see the cement plants of Eurocement. At the meeting, which was held at Eurocement's central office, the group's president Mikhail Skorokhod explained the group's key projects to the Chinese representatives and discussed possible areas of cooperation.
"Conch has the most modern equipment for the production of cement and has considerable experience in operating production lines. It is extremely interesting for Eurocement to study its experience as well as to consider its foreign experience for the development of the national building materials industry in Russia," said Skorokhod. "I am convinced that our Chinese colleagues would also be interested in getting acquainted with the activities of the Russian cement sector leader. This meeting will be the beginning of a fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation."
The Chinese delegation will visit Mikhailovcement, Ulyanovskecement and Sengleevskiycement during the visit.
Mordovcement plans to rebuild local railway infrastructure
09 November 2015Russia: Mordovcement, part of Eurocement, has launched an investment programme to rebuild local railway infrastructure.
The investment offers funding for the full replacement of 9.1km of track and 42 switches. The proposed repairs will guarantee the continued safe use of the railway infrastructure for the supply of raw materials. The US$3.14m project will raise the turnover of wagons for the loading of cement and will help to establish the stable delivery of cars of raw materials from the quarry to the production area. The development will boost the reliability of the railway track as a whole and extend its lifecycle, reducing the complexity and cost of maintenance and obtaining economic benefits during its operation.
Eurocement President inspects Leningrad region plants
13 October 2015Russia: Eurocement President Mikhail Skorokhod visited several key cement plants in the Leningrad region recently.
Key performance indicators of Peterburgcement were evaluated positively at the end of August 2015. "The company shows strong growth and consistently high product quality. This is the result of the work of a highly professional close-knit team. Today, the team is facing new tasks and new challenges and it is planned to reach the historical record and produce 1.86Mt of cement in 2016," said Mikhail Skorokhod. Reducing costs and consistently high product quality, according to Skorokhod, will allow Peterburgcement to increase its market share in the Leningrad and neighbouring areas and reduce imports of inferior quality cement from neighbouring countries.
During his visit, Skorokhod appointed Dmitry Zibaev as the new Peterburgcement plant CEO. Skorokhod said that Dmitry Zibaev has considerable experience in the industry and in-depth knowledge of all processes of cement production. Dmitry Zibaev graduated from Belgorod State University of Technology. He started his career as a Maintenance Foreman in Lafarge Cement. He moved from Mechanical Engineer to the Deputy General Director of Peterburgcement.
Skorokhod also inspected the production process at Pikalevskiy Cement plant during his visit to the Leningrad region. He set the task to increase control over the quality of clinker. "Pikalevskiy Cement has high trust and reputation among customers and clients. The plant staff should not only meet the customers' expectations, but also raise the bar," said Skorokhod. He expressed the view that the decision taken recently by the Russian Government to introduce mandatory certification of cement will set the barrier to low-quality and counterfeit basic construction material and it will lead to higher work level of the plant. Technical Engineers of Pikalevskiy Cement have improved the clinker quality in recent months. Talking about the construction of a new dry line at the plant, Skorokhod said that the company intends to consistently implement its modernisation programme at its plants.
Russia: Eurocement's Akhangarancement plant produced 164,000t of cement and 127,205t of clinker in August 2015, 2.5% and 12.2% year-on-year rises respectively. The plant shipped 164,863t of cement to in August 2015, a 1.2% year-on-year rise.
The most popular types of cement in August 2015 were PC 400-D20 (Portland cement of grade 400 with active mineral additives accounting for more than 5 - 20%, SPC 400 (Slag Portland cement of grade 400 with active mineral additives accounting for 20 - 80%), PC 400-KD20 (Portland cement of grade 400 with composite additives accounting for 10 - 20%). The share of these types of cement was 91.8%, up from 75.1% in August 2014.
Ahangarancement hits record production in August 2015
02 October 2015Uzbekistan: Ahangarancement, which is owned by Russia's Eurocement Group, achieved record production figures in August 2015. The company said that it produced 164,000t of cement from 127,205t of clinker in August, rises of 2.5% and 12.2% compared to the same month of 2014. The enterprise shipped 164,863t of cement to consumers in August 2015, a 1.2% year-on-year rise.
New general director of Kavkazcement
16 September 2015Russia: Igor Nikolenko has been appointed the new General Director of CJSC Kavkazcement, part of Eurocement. A Eurocement statement stated that the new appointment was highly qualified with a 'deep knowledge of Eurocement group's business processes and long experience in the field of construction materials.'
Igor Nikolenko was born in Belgorod in 1965. Having graduated from Belgorod Technological Institute of Building Materials in Mechanical Engineering in 1990, he came to work in the Belgorod cement plant. He worked as a Deputy General Director and Technical Director of Balcem, a General Director at Savinskiy cement plant and Deputy General Director and Technical Director of Eurocement Ukraine. Most recently he was the head of Mikhailovcement plant from 2012 until 2015.
Sengileevsky Cement sends first cement batch by barge
16 September 2015Russia: Sengileevsky Cement Plant has begun sending cement by barge. The company sent its first batch of 1700t of cement to a distribution centre in Cheboksary during the last week of August 2015.
"Our company is developing further opportunities to ship, not only cement in bulk, but also bagged cement by water transport," said Mikhail Skorokhod, President of Eurocement.
The Sengileevsky Cement Plant is situated on the bank of the Volga River, making it easy to transport cement to the Ulyanovsk region and surrounding areas, as well as further afield. Shipping by barge is relatively low cost, which should help to stabilise cement prices.
Igor Nikolenko appointed as the new CEO of Kavkazcement
09 September 2015Russia: Igor Nikolenko has been appointed as the new general director of EuroCement's CJSC Kavkazcement. Igor Nikolenko was born in Belgorod in 1965. He graduated from Belgorod Technological Institute of Building Materials in Mechanical Engineering in 1990 and then worked in the Belgorod cement plant.
Kavkazcement is one of the largest cement plants in southern Russia with a production capacity of 3.1Mt/yr. The raw material base is limestone from the Ust-Dzhegutinsky mine and clay from Karachay-Cherkessia. The company became part of EuroCement in 2004.
New cement plant for Eurocement in Sengiley
15 July 2015Russia: Eurocement Group has launched a 1.3Mt/yr dry-process cement plant in the Ulyanovsk Region's town of Sengiley. The plant will produce cement using a dry process at an investment cost of US$282m. Local press stated that the plant will create about 500 direct jobs and 1000 further indirect jobs.
Eurocement outlines Mordovcement development
13 July 2015Russia: According to SKRIN Newswire, an important period of the Mordovcement plant integration to Eurocement Group's logistics is currently being completed. Eurocement bought the Mordovcement plant in December 2014.
Mikhail Skorokhod, the president of Eurocement and Vladimir Volkov, the head of the republic of Mordovia, held a working meeting in the Administration of the Republic, where they discussed prospects of development of Mordovcement plant. The main topics were the business strategy of Mordovcement and contribution of the production facility to social and economic development of the Republic.
"Mordovcement has an important position in the construction industry of the country. It is one of the leading cement suppliers in the Russian construction materials market," said Vladimir Volkov. "This is why the plant is of strategic importance for our republic. It is crucial for us to know how Eurocement will develop the plant and we are ready for active cooperation on these issues. The most important is to load the production facility with maximum efficient orders and to respond promptly to changing needs of the construction market. For us, it is matter of principle to preserve the huge working team of Mordovcement and assure stable salary increases at the plant."
"From the moment of Mordovcement's inclusion in Eurocement, a large project aimed at increasing operational efficiency has been undertaken. All issues of Mordovcement debts have been solved, refurbishment and major repair of main equipment of the production facility have been made," said Skorokhod. "Today Eurocement executes complex measures to reduce the specific consumption of fuel and gas and increase equipment capacity."
