The success of the green energy transition, not to mention the entire global economy, hinges on the cement sector. Accounting for 8% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and with rising demand for commodities, Cement Production remains among the most difficult sectors to decarbonize. Conventional approaches to meeting the industry’s energy needs carry a significant carbon footprint, require large capital investments, and are constrained by the local utilities’ fuel availability and generation mix. To meet the rising demand for commodities while avoiding additional greenhouse gas emissions and capital spending, this sector must think outside the grid for a solution.
In this webinar, the discussion between cement industry leaders will include:
- Their experience with the implementation of energy efficiency, renewable energy, biomass, and carbon capture projects at cement facilities.
- How cement companies can reduce fossil fuel and process-related CO2 emissions via waste heat to power and behind-the-meter renewable microgrids.
- A case study highlighting techno-economic evaluation of solar, wind, battery storage, and waste heat to power at an operational Cement Plant.
- A question & answer portion from the audience, highlighting the genuine challenges that had to advance decarbonization at major facilities.
