Beumer Group technical report updates on Covid-19-led changes
29 January 2021Germany: Beumer Group has published a technical report detailing changes to its operations due to the on-going Covid-19 outbreak. The group says that cement producers in some markets have changed to 50kg to 25kg bags. It also reported an increased rate of digitisation, less personal interaction with customers and an increased reliance on alternative fuels.
Cement head of sales Kay Wieczorek said, "Over past months, Covid-19 has forced us to cope with some changes. This will probably bother us even more in the colder months." He added, "Even if the Covid-19 figures are currently in progress, I am sure that BEUMER Group will come through this crisis pretty well; we just have to be well-prepared for it."
US: Germany’s Beumer Group has appointed Joseph Dzierzawski as the president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Beumer Corporation, its US subsidiary based in Somerset, New Jersey. He has been in post since April 2020. He is responsible for the Conveying & Loading Systems, Palletizing and Packaging Technology, and Sortation and Distribution Systems business lines in the North American market.
Dzierzawski holds a degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Michigan. Later he attended executive management programs at the University of Michigan School of Business and the INSEAD business school in Fontainebleau, France. He joins Beumer from Hatch Metals & Minerals group where he worked as Global Director, Technology & Business Development. Prior to this he worked at SMS, where he held a series of positions, eventually serving as president and CEO for SMS USA and Chief Technology Officer for SMS Group.
Germany: Beumer Group says it is supporting logistics start-up Sparrow Networks with its Beam spin-off company. Sparrow Networks consists of a spare parts pool of interconnected cement industry players. Customers can access the inventory on Sparrow Networks’ digital marketplace. Beam is a Berlin-based start-up company builder, supported by Beumer Group, that focuses on logistics and technical challenges.
Germany: Beumer Group has appointed Christian Schneider as the director of People and Culture, its human resources department. A law graduate of the University of Hamburg he previously worked in human resources for Bauer Media followed by Schulke & Mayr, a subsidiary of Air Liquide Group, and for Air Liquide itself.
Germany: Beumer Group has developed a screw weigh feeder with automatic calibration. The company says it is especially well suited to exact and controlled feeding of inhomogeneous bulk materials of densities between 0.08t/m3 and 0.80t/m3 and extremely high moisture content such as alternative fuels. Its capacity is 30t/hr and its weighing tolerance is between 1% and 2%. It is completely covered to prevent dust and other environmental stresses.
Eurocement resumes packaging line at Oskolcement plant
24 April 2019Russia: Eurocement has resumed the packaging line at its Oskolcement plant. It sells products in 50kg bags. The packaging line uses equipment from Germany’s Haver & Boecker and Beumer.
Beumer opens new sales office in Ruhr area
19 June 2018Germany: Beumer has opened a new sales office in the Ruhr area. The new ‘West’ office will enable Beumer Customer Support to handle worldwide retrofitting and modernisation projects including, for example, currently operating conveying systems like bucket elevators and clinker conveyors, and those from other suppliers. The engineering company says that its goal is to cooperate closely with its headquarters in Beckum and provide everything from one source, from receiving a query, to technical dimensioning and on-site installation.
Thailand: Amir Reza Sinai has been appointed as the managing director of Beumer Group’s subsidiary in Thailand. The local company, which has 59 employees, acts as Beumer’s regional headquarters in South East and East Asia, where it covers the divisions Conveying & Loading Systems and Palletising & Packaging Systems. It also provides solutions for the cement industry.
Prior to working for Beumer, Amir Reza Sinai was the chief executive officer of the Indonesian subsidiary of a global plant engineering and construction company. He joined Beumer’s Thai subsidiary in early 2017, and for almost a year he headed the company’s office in Jakarta, Indonesia. He took up his current post on 1 January 2018.
Germany: Beumer Group has added the option of an ultrasonic sealing unit to its Fillpac R rotary packer filling system. The add-on is intended to improve the appearance of the bags filled with the packing machine. Once bags are filled they are sealed with ultrasound to keep the bags clean and company. This method of sealing also helps ensures that material is not spilled or contaminated during transport by truck.
Germany: Beumer Group has launched two start-up companies as part of its business strategy for 2018: ‘The best, not the biggest’. The new subsidiaries are intended to develop minimum viable products (MVP) or prototypes that feature minimum equipment and generate sustainable added value. Both companies are intended to use ‘advanced and disruptive’ business ideas to influence and improve existing business models.
BG.evolution is located in Dortmund near the Digital.Hub Logistics innovation centre. Researchers at this company are working on designing the logistics for digital business models in conjunction with the Technical University of Dortmund and other external specialists. BG.challenge in Berlin is intended to develop new business models that may disrupt existing business models from outside. BG.challenge also offers start-up support for young entrepreneurs.
