Kavkazcement plant receives new kiln

Russia: Eurocement subsidiary Kavkazcement has installed and commissioned a dry kiln to replace its reserve kiln at its plant in the Republic of Karachay-Cherkessia. The new kiln is part of a Euro5.79m investment which will increase the current 3.1Mt/yr integrated plant’s capacity by over 40% to 4.4Mt/yr when commissioned in mid-2020. Oleg Lopatin, Kavkazcement director general, said “A significant increase in the plant’s workload was made possible by the high demand for our cements.”

Maerz provides update on lime kiln projects

Switzerland: Maerz has reported the successful installation of two Maerz PFR lime kilns with a capacity of 200t/day and 300t/day at Daesung MDI in South Korea, which was commissioned on 19 October 2019. The company also installed a 150t/day E2 two-shaft lime kiln at Easternbulk Lime Products Private Ltd in July 2019. Three further new plants with Maerz kilns are scheduled to enter operation in 2020 in China, Mexico and Russia and a second kiln will increase production of petcoke at Caleras’ San Juan plant in Argentina beginning in mid-2020.

Eurocement’s Akhangarancement plant upgrade to consist of 3Mt/yr capacity expansion

Uzbekistan: Russia’s Eurocement has revealed that construction work underway at its 2.0Mt/yr integrated Akhangarancement cement plant in Tahskent region includes the installation of a second plant on the site, bringing its total capacity to 5.0Mt/yr. Trend News Agency has reported that suppliers have delivered 4500t of machinery to Akhangarancement, including a clinker refrigerator, clinker conveyor and heat exchanger as well as electrical equipment and building materials for a raw materials warehouse. Eurocement’s total investment in the project has amounted to US$200m.

Eurocement Group Holding International president Mikhail Skorohod said, “Taking into account the growing needs of the Uzbek market in building materials, Eurocement is committed to creation of a building materials cluster based around the Akhangarancement plant.” The company said that the upgraded 5.0Mt/yr plant would become operational in 2020.

SLK-Cement consolidates web presence

Russia: SLK-Cement has launched a website that combines the functions of its previous websites, which served its Sukhoi Log and Korkino plants individually. Slkcement.com will serve as an information base and communication channel, based on the architectural platform of Buzzi Unicem’s website, according to AMF. The website’s inception coincides with the launch of rebranded SLK-Cement cement.

Vostokcement installs new belt in Spasskcement plant

28 November 2019

Russia: Vostokcement subsidiary Spasskcement received a ninth belt to serve as a back-up for conveying materials into one of its two kilns at its Spasskcement plant. The belt is 7.65m wide and was manufactured in Louyang, China.

Eurocement’s Maltsovsky plant gains European cement certification

27 November 2019

Russia: Eurocement’s Maltsovsky integrated plant in Bryansk Region has gained European certification for its CEMI 52.5N, CEMI 42.5R and CEMII / A-S 42.5N products. Local testing and independent certification confirmed the new designation. Following an earlier certification for CEMI 42.5N the plant now hopes to grow its exports to the European Union.

Eurocement’s Ankhangarancement plant to receive new raw materials warehouse

Uzbekistan: Construction has begun at Russia’s Eurocement’s 2.0Mt/yr integrated Ankhangarancement plant in the Tashkent region of a facility to house the limestone and clay used in cement production. When the installation is operational, the materials will be relayed from it to the plant’s four wet lines by a conveyor belt and 1400t/hr stacker, whence the mixture is conveyed by 600t/hr-capacity truck to one of the vertical roller mills.

Eurocement extends cooperation with Castorama

Russia: Eurocement has announced an expansion in its cooperation agreement with consumer goods retailer Castorama. Eurocement’s regional subsidiary Mikhailovcement, which operates a 2.0Mt/yr integrated cement plant in Ryazan, dispatched the first batch of cement to Castorama in October 2019. Mikhailovcement and other Eurocement subsidiaries will now supply bagged cement to all of Castorama’s 19 branches across Russia.

Regional Russian government announces 2Mt/yr integrated cement plant plans

08 November 2019

Russia: The government of the Republic of Turva has announced its approval of a 2Mt/yr integrated cement plant near the extensive limestone and clay reserves around Shagonar in the Republic of Turva. Local investors will undertake the development, scheduled for completion in late 2020, at an estimated cost of US$5.48m. The announcement has attracted uproar from residents of the area for the proximity of the intended site to the sacred mountain Haiyrakan, where the most significant limestone deposits are located.

Abia Cement company signs memorandum of understanding with investors for 2.0Mt/yr integrated plant

05 November 2019

Nigeria: Abia Cement, Russian-based Drobmash and Energomotor and Czech-based PSP Engineering signed a memorandum of understanding for construction of a 2.0Mt/yr integrated cement plant in Abia province at the first Russia-Africa Summit on 2 November 2019. The latter companies will supply equipment to the development, while Abia cement will receive an export loan from Russia’s Roseximbank.
