India: UltraTech Cement has commissioned a cement grinding plant in Pataliputra, Bihar. The 1.6Mt/yr plant is the company’s 15th grinding plant. It is intended to produce cement for markets in eastern India.
The new grinding plant increases the company’s production capacity to 69.3Mt/yr including overseas operations. The Indian cement producer has added 6.1Mt/yr in production capacity in the year that ended in March 2016.
Adana Çimento places order for Loesche cement mill
20 April 2016Turkey: Adana Çimento has placed an order for a Loesche cement mill for its Adana cement plant in Turkey. The LM 46.4 vertical roller mill with a transmission power of 2750kW is used for grinding 200t/hour of raw material to white cement. The material will be ground to a fineness of 8% R 90µm. A period of nine months will be allowed for delivery so that the Loesche roller mill will be put into operation during the fourth quarter in 2016.
Previously, Adana Çimento ordered a Loesche mill of type LM 53.3+3 CS for grinding clinker and slag at its Iskenderun cement grinding plant in 2007. Adana Çimento is a subsidiary company of the Oyak Group.
Cambodia: Chip Mong Group has ordered three vertical roller mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer for a new cement production line in Touk Meas. The order comprises a MPS 3350 BK for coal, a MVR 5000 R-4 for raw material and a MVR 6000 C-6 for cement grinding. The cement mill will come equipped with a MultiDrive consisting of four drive modules. This drive system has an installed power of 7200kW to allow redundant operation.
The MVR 6000 C-6 cement mill will be the largest vertical roller mill in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region. It will be set up in cooperation with CITIC Heavy Industries. Delivery of the mills is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2017.
Ivory Coast: Dangote Cement has started to build a 3Mt/yr clinker grinding plant in Yongbon near Abidjan. The plant will be cost US$200m and be completed by late 2017 according to Devakumar Edwin, Dangote Group Executive Director, Strategy, Projects and Portfolio Management.
The grinding plant will consist of two 1.5Mt/yr lines. Once complete the plant is expected to double the country’s cement production capacity. Indian engineering firm Ayoki Fabricon is managing the project subcontracting Thyssenkrupp. Once complete the plant is expected to create over 3000 direct and indirect jobs, according to local media.
Emami Cement to build US$70m cement grinding plant
29 February 2016India: Emami Cement plan to build a 2Mt/yr cement grinding plant costing US$70m for commissioning by the end of 2016. The foundation stone for the plant in Panagarh, West Bengal was laid by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Panagarh on 26 February 2016.
"The 2Mt/yr capacity unit is to be located at the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation Panagarh Industrial Park in Burdwan district of West Bengal at an investment of US$70m," Emami Cement said in a statement.
Emami Group is currently also setting up a 4Mt/yr integrated cement plant at a cost of US$439m at Risda, Chhattisgarh. The project is expected to become operational soon. Raw material will be sourced from the company's captive limestone mines in Chhattisgarh. Emami is also considering building cement plants in Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh.
Zambia: Lafarge Zambia has successfully commissioned a Cemengal Plug & Grind cement grinding plant in Ndola which will produce 100,000t/yr of cement and take the plant's total capacity to 500,000t/yr. It has been constructed on available land within the Ndola plant.
"This project has utilised very minimal amount of land. It is fitted with state-of-the art technology and has bag filters to aid environmental management," said Lafarge Zambia CEO, Emmanuel Rigaux. He added that the plant will produce Supaset Cement. This will be exported to the Democratic Republic of Congo and other neighbouring countries.
Also present at the event was the LafargeHolcim Group Area Manager for East Africa and Indian Ocean, Dominique Drouet who was on a three day visit to Zambia.
Aşkale Çimento orders KHD grinding units for two plants
22 January 2016Turkey: Aşkale Çimento has placed orders with KHD for new cement grinding systems at cement plants in Akoluk and Bilecik. Commissioning of both COMFLEX® systems is planned for the first part of 2017.
At Akoluk the new COMFLEX system will be installed in front of a new 100t/hour ball mill. At Bilecik the COMFLEX unit will allow Aşkale Çimento to increase the existing capacity from 100t/hour to 210t/hour at 3800 blaine. Between 2006 and 2011 KHD supplied three kiln lines to Aşkale plants in Askale, Van and Gümüshane.
KHD's scope includes engineering as well as the supply of mechanical and electrical equipment. KHD will also supervise erection and commissioning of the new systems.
The core equipment of the COMFLEX SC16-3500 clinker grinding system includes: Roller Press RPS 16-170/180 with ROLCOX® system for control and monitoring; Cascade separator, type VS 618 as static classifier; High efficiency separator SEPMASTER, type SKS-VC 3500 as dynamic classifier; System fan HKSK 212/275.
With this new order KHD has now sold six COMFLEX plants in Turkey. Other COMFLEX systems are in operation in Denizli, KCS, Aslan and Batisöke.
FLSmidth to supply OK 36-4 cement grinding system to SOBOCE
11 January 2016Bolivia: SOBOCE has awarded a contract to FLSmidth for an OK 36-4 cement grinding system to be installed at its Viacha cement plant in Bolivia. The scope of supply includes cement grinding system equipment, engineering and site advisory services.
This will be the first vertical roller mill for cement grinding in Bolivia and will produce high strength cement with 5000 Blaine. Furthermore, at 4000m above sea level, it will have the highest installed elevation for any OK mill in the Americas. Additional scope of supply includes a longitudinal stacker, a sizer for gypsum and pozzolan, Airtech filter, Ventomatic silos and a packing plant.
Once installed, the new cement mill grinding system and packing plant will allow SOBOCE to increase its production capacity to meet cement demand in Bolivia. FLSmidth installed the existing line at Viacha in the late 1990s and in 2010 an expansion project that enabled the plant to double its capacity.
Peru: The Peruvian division of Mexican cement company Cemex has received approval from the Ministry of Production for the environmental impact assessment (EIA) requested for the development of a cement grinding and packaging plant in Ventanilla, Callao.
