Germany: Screencore has announced the appointment of WBI Baumaschinen as their distributor for Germany. AggNet News has reported that WBI Baumaschinen will offer Screencore’s entire product portfolio, with a focus on stockpilers, trommels and pugmills. It will also provide a comprehensive aftermarket package, including parts, servicing and technical support.
Screencore director Ciarán Ryan said "The Screencore range fits seamlessly into WBI's existing product lines and allows them to offer a true total solution to their customers."
Myanmar: An Indian Navy vessel, the UMS Myitkyina, arrived at Thilawa (MITT) port on 23 May 2025, carrying 225t of cement donated by the Indian government to support reconstruction efforts after the March 2025 earthquake, according to the Global Light of Myanmar newspaper. A handover ceremony for the 4500 50kg bags of cement took place later that afternoon. The Yangon Region government supervised the transfer of the cement onto cargo trucks for distribution to affected areas.
US: Eco Material Technologies has announced the opening of the Blissville Rail Terminal in Queens, New York. The new terminal will enable Eco Material to distribute approximately 50,000t/yr of fly ash from its national network to support local infrastructure projects in the New York metro area. The terminal will utilise rail transportation to deliver fly ash and cementitious materials, which the company says can replace up to 25% of carbon-intensive Portland cement in standard concrete mixes, with Eco Material's technologies reportedly allowing for up to 100% replacement in select applications.
"The opening of the Blissville Terminal is a major step in our efforts to expand access to low-carbon cement alternatives in all major metro areas, " said Grant Quasha, CEO of Eco Material Technologies. "By strengthening our presence in New York, we can better serve future infrastructure projects with innovative materials that reduce reliance on traditional Portland cement and imported steel slag.”
FLSmidth opens new US facility in Pennsylvania
14 April 2025US: FLSmidth has held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for its new 11,000m2 manufacturing and distribution facility near its main office in Allentown, Pennsylvania. The company is consolidating its US operations following the full separation of its mining and cement businesses. The facility will primarily serve as a distribution warehouse for replacement parts and a production site for pneumatic transfer lines, according to local media.
Head of manufacturing Leyla Mohamed-Folk said “We are bringing our cement products that started in the Lehigh Valley back here.”
Holcim El Salvador opens San Miguel distribution centre
01 April 2025El Salvador: Holcim El Salvador has announced the opening of a new distribution centre in San Miguel to strengthen its presence in the eastern region. The centre will provide easier access to Holcim’s Fuerte and Maestro cement from the ECOPlanet range. It also means that customers no longer need to travel to Metapán to purchase cement. The site accommodates dredges and small trucks for fast dispatch, with a minimum order of 40 bags.
Philippines: Taiheiyo Cement Philippines has informed the government of its plans to improve its distribution system in Luzon, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said.
The company has doubled the capacity of its US$224m Cebu facility from 50,000 bags/day to 100,000 bags/day. Additionally, it is constructing a distribution terminal in Calaca, Batangas, to better serve Luzon, which accounts for 64% of national cement demand.
"Once operational, this new facility will streamline logistics, optimise supply chain efficiency and ensure timely delivery of cement to this critical region," the DTI said.
Moroccan cement sales rise in January 2025
20 February 2025Morocco: Cement sales rose by 14% month-on-month to 1.28Mt in January 2025, according to the Ministry of National Land Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy. The ministry said in its monthly report that sales directed to distribution reached 707,000t.
India: Kaushalya Logistics has commenced operations at its new depot in Amritsar, Punjab, Reuters has reported. The facility will serve JK Cement’s regional distribution operations.
Tana Oy forms partnership with Veneto Schwenter
04 October 2024Finland/Germany: Tana Oy has entered a strategic partnership with Veneto Schwenter for the distribution of Tana Oy shredders in Germany. The collaboration will enhance Veneto Schwenter's portfolio of sales, rental and consulting services in manufacturing equipment, alongside machine service and repairs.
Egypt: Starting in October 2024, the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources will centralise distribution of mazut to cement plants to ensure continued operations amidst the country's power shortages. Deputy PM Kamel El Wazir announced the plan, responding to requests from cement producers for a reliable fuel supply to maintain the stable production and distribution of cement.
Cement plants are required to submit a report on quarry material prices over the past three years, highlighting price increases and their impact on the industry. The Cement Division of the Building Materials Industry Chamber also requested consistent export support payments, the extension of investor rights to quarry resources, and the testing of pozzolanic cement for standard compliance.
