UK: Edie has named Holcim’s chief sustainability and innovation officer Magali Anderson as laureate of its Sustainability Leader of the Year award at the Sustainability Leaders Awards 2022. The awards recognise leaders from across all sectors of UK industry. Naturalist Chris Packham hosted the event in Westminster, London.
Switzerland: Holcim has partnered with Bloomberg Media to launch the Circular Cities Barometer, an exploration of best circular economy practices from cities around the world. The platform aims to improve understandings of how to empower cities to become more circular. The partners will publish the Circular Cities Barometer’s first findings at the Bloomberg Green Summit in April 2022.
CEO Jan Jenisch said “Circularity is the opportunity of our time. It unlocks economic growth in a way that is climate-friendly, nature-positive and socially inclusive. My vision for construction is to build more new from the old with recycled materials in every new building.”
RHI Magnesita plans Dolomite Resource Centre Europe
07 January 2020Austria: RHI Magnesita has published details of a planned raw materials plant in Austria. The company will spend Euro40m in the construction of the Dolomite Resource Centre Europe for the processing of raw local dolomite into sintered dolomite for use in refractory products at Hochfilz in the state of Tyrol. State Governor Günther Platter and French ambassador to Austria François Saint-Paul joined local folkloric figures Krampus and Saint Nikolas in breaking ground at the site of the future plant, which will be the source of dolomite for all RHI Magnesita European operations from 2021. The plant is part of a raft of projects totalling Euro300m in additional investments by the Austria-based refractory products manufacturer in 2020.
