Kenya: Bamburi Cement has appointed John Stull as a non-executive director following the resignation of Pierre Deleplanque. The latter was appointed to the company’s board in mid-2018 and is its Area Manager - East, South Africa & Indian Ocean.

Stull, an American national, is the Head of Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions for LafargeHolcim Middle East & Africa region, and has over 28 years’ experience in the LafargeHolcim Group having joined it in 1992 as Operations Manager, Alpena Michigan - USA. In 1996 he was promoted to Vice President, Manufacturing - USA Region, and thereafter held several leadership positions including: President, Missouri Division, Ready Mix and Aggregates; Senior Vice President, Marketing and Supply Chain - Lafarge France; Regional President, Sub-Saharan Africa; President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) LafargeHolcim USA; CEO US CEM; and prior to his latest role as President & CEO -LafargeHolcim Philippines. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Akron and an Advanced Management Degree from Harvard University.

Morocco: LafargeHolcim Morocco has appointed Saâd Dalil as its cement sales and marketing director. He succeeds Boubker Bouchentouf, who is retiring after over 25 years with the group.

Dalil, aged 45 years, has worked for LafargeHolcim Morocco for over 14 years, most recently as its director of concrete. He originally trained in agricultural economics and holds an executive master of business administration (MBA) from the École des Ponts Business School.

Switzerland: Oscar Fanjul has decided to step down as the vice-chairman of LafargeHolcim. The group said that in line with the its commitment to continuity of leadership, the board of directors has proposed the appointment of chief executive officer (CEO) Jan Jenisch as a member of the board of directors in addition to his CEO role.

Fanjul was elected to the board of directors of LafargeHolcim in 2015. He began his career working for the industrial holding INI in Spain and later became the chairman founder and CEO of Repsol. He has been chairman of Hidroeléctrica del Cantábrico and of Deoleo. He has also been a board member of the London Stock Exchange, Unilever, Areva, and BBVA. He holds a PhD in Economics.

India: RK Group subsidiary Wonder Cement has appointed Kiran Patil as its managing director. He succeeds Jagdish Chandra Toshniwal, who has retired, according to the Free Press Journal newspaper. Patil will work at the company’s headquarters in Udaipur, Rajasthan. He previously worked as a mechanical engineer and, prior to joining Wonder Cement, he worked as the chief manufacturing officer for ACC in Mumbai. He has worked with Ultratech Cement, Lafarge India and Tata Steel.
