Mark Till appointed as National Sales Manager for the UK by Ecocem

UK: Ireland-based Ecocem has appointed Mark Till as its National Sales Manager for the UK. His role will include overseeing commercial operations across the company's UK bases, strengthening existing customer relationships, working on specifications from engineers and architects and developing opportunities in new markets. Till has worked for Ecocem since 2019 as the UK Regional Sales Manager. Prior to this he worked for Oscrete Construction Products in sales roles from 2011 and for Brett Aggregates from 2002.
Marcel Cobuz appointed as chair of the executive committee of Titan Cement

Greece: Titan Cement has appointed Marcel Cobuz as the chair of its executive committee. He will succeed Dimitri Papalexopoulos in the post from 15 October 2022. Papalexopoulos, in turn, will become the chair of the board of directors, succeeding Efstratios-Georgios Arapoglou.
Cobuz, a French and Romanian national, has worked for Holcim and its associated companies for over 20 years. He joined Lafarge Group in 2000 and has held various leadership roles in Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. He later became the Europe Region Head for LafargeHolcim from 2018 to 2021. Prior to his time at Lafarge, Cobuz started his career in investment banking at Creditanstalt Investment Bank and worked as an entrepreneur in Romania. He studied law and economics in Bucharest, completed an Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and has attended executive programs at INSEAD, the IMD Business School and Singularity Group.
Jimmy Khan appointed as head of Lafarge Egypt

Egypt: Lafarge Egypt has appointed Jimmy Khan as its chief executive officer (CEO).
Khan has worked for Holcim, LafargeHolcim and Lafarge for 18 years. Notable positions include becoming Head of Business Processes, Internal Control and Audit - Nigeria in 2013, CEO of LafargeHolcim Mauritius and Seychelles in 2015 and Country CEO of Zambia in 2018. He is a graduate of the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech in the US.
Hamed Maraghechi appointed as Director of the Central Research Laboratory of CalPortland

US: CalPortland has appointed Hamed Maraghechi as its Director of the Central Research Laboratory. He will be based at the CalPortland Center of Technical Excellence in southern California where he will conduct new research and testing related to issues such as carbon reduction and sequestration to help the company achieve its commitment to lowering greenhouse gases. He will also oversee all advanced analytical services for customers and for internal operations, in this newly created position.
Maraghechi holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering with a materials focus from the Pennsylvania State University, a master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and a master’s degree in Polymer Engineering from the University of Tehran in Iran. He was most recently a senior scientist at Fortera working on the design and development of low CO2 cement and concrete formulations. Prior to Fortera, he worked as a scientist at Boral IP Holdings and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
Vik Bansal appointed as head of Boral

Australia: Boral has appointed Vik Bansal as its chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director with effect by 5 December 2022. Zlatko Todorcevski will remain as CEO until transition to Bansal is completed.
Bansal holds over 30 years of management experience with industrial organisations. He has been the CEO of steel-manufacture InfraBuild since mid-2021. Prior to this he was the head of waste management company Cleanaway from 2015 to 2021. He is currently the chairman of LGI and has volunteered as a director for organisations including the National Waste & Recycling Industry Council, Waste Management & Resource Recovery and Disability Services Australia.
Bansal is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers Australia and the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He originally trained as an electrical engineer, holds a master of business administration (MBA) degree and has completed the Advanced Management Program from INSEAD. He has also completed a Master of Laws in Enterprise Governance.
