Nigeria: Denmark-based FLSmidth has secured a contract with Dangote Cement for the supply of hot kiln alignment services for 16 kiln lines across Africa. 10 of the lines are installed across three plants in Nigeria, with the remaining six situated in Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zambia. The contract will endure until 2026.
Dangote Cement said that it chose FLSmidth to help it achieve ‘uninterrupted cement production and dispatch around the clock. Dangote Group deputy managing director Arvind Pathak said, “The equipment health audits, services, and support extended by FLSmidth have helped us maintain our pyro process equipment with good reliability. Hot kiln alignment is an excellent preventative maintenance strategy.”
FLSmidth says that it conducts 250 hot kiln alignments worldwide annually.
Philippines: Gebr. Pfeiffer has received an order for a modular four-roller ready2grind 2500 vertical grinding unit to Big Boss Cement’s Porac, Pampanga plant. It says that the mill will have a production capacity of 70t/hr of cement, ground to a fineness of 4000cm2/g. The company will additionally supply a packing plant module for bag and bulk loading.
Gebr. Pfeiffer said that in spite of delays to the unit’s commissioning due to coronavirus lockdown, it “has experienced specialists on site and is therefore able to support the customer in this phase.”
US: CalPortland has awarded a supply contract to FLSmidth for a new raw mill at its integrated Mojave plant in California. The scope of supply includes engineering, equipment and installation of a new OK 48-4 Raw Mill with a Condition Monitoring System and an ECS/ProcessExpert system. The mill is scheduled to be in operation in late 2021. No value for the current order has been disclosed.
“The new OK Raw Mill from FLSmidth will increase reliability and efficiency at our Mojave plant," said Bruce E Shafer, Senior Vice President for Cement Operations at CalPortland. It follows the purchase of a FLSmidth OK Cement Mill at the same plant in 2004. FLSmidth added that as both OK mills at the plant will share the same gearbox design, the unit will be able to streamline maintenance and manage inventory costs by sharing the one spare FLSmidth MAAG WPU-200 assembly.
Cement sales surge in Paraguay
19 May 2020Paraguay: Industria Nacional del Cemento (INC) has reported sales of 79,800 bags/day of cement between 4 May 2020 and 8 May 2020. Demand had collapsed in April 2020 due to restrictions on construction resulting from the coronavirus outbreak. Esmerk Latin American News has reported that newly reopened distributors collected their orders and that a number of customers purchased more than their usual volume in anticipation of a further easing of lockdown. INC has placed an order for 40,000t of imported clinker to help production to meet demand.
ACC orders new production line from KHD
18 March 2020India: KHD’s subsidiaries Humboldt Wedag India and Humboldt Wedag have signed a deal with LafargeHolcim’s subsidiary ACC to build a new raw meal grinding unit and a pyroprocessing line for an existing cement plant. The contracts also include the supply and installation of the electrical and instrumentation package for the entire cement plant. The entire contract package is worth over Euro35m.
Votorantim orders clinker cooler from Fons Technology
14 February 2020Tunisia: Brazil’s Votorantim Cimentos has ordered a clinker cooler and clinker roller crushers from Turkey’s Fons Technology International for an upgrade to its 1.2Mt/yr integrated Jbel Oust plant. Votorantim has been present in Tunisia since 2012 where it sells cement under the Jbel Oust brand.
Cemex Philippines orders cement mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer
07 October 2019Philippines: Cemex Philippines has ordered a MVR type mill for cement raw material grinding from Germany’s Gebr. Pfeiffer for a plant in Antipolo. The order also includes a MPS mill to grind coal. Gebr. Pfeiffer said that the order was received through a Chinese general contractor. No value for the order or timescale was disclosed.
Shree Cement orders cement mill from Gebr. Pfeiffer
08 August 2019India: Shree Cement has ordered a MVR 6000 C-6 mill from Germany’s Gebr. Pfeiffer. The mill will be used to grind cement at a grinding unit near Pune in the state of Maharashtra. No value for the order has been disclosed.
The new mill will be used to alternately produce 300t/hr of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) at a product fineness of 3100cm²/g acc. to Blaine or 300t/hr of Portland Pozzolana Cement (PPC) containing as much as 35% of fly ash at a product fineness of 3500cm²/g acc. to Blaine or 180t/hr of ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBFS) at a product fineness of 4500 cm²/g acc. to Blaine. The mill will come equipped with a 6700kW drive.
Gebr. Pfeiffer SE will supply the core components of the mill and the gear unit from Europe and its Indian subsidiary, Gebr. Pfeiffer (India), will provide the components such as the housing of the mill and classifier, the steel foundation parts as well as the internal parts of the classifier. The Indian subsidiary will also design the plant layout and advise the customer on the equipment he will procure on his own.
Shree Cement has ordered 34 mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer previously. It has recently commissioned a grinding plant in Jharkand that also uses a mill supplied by Gebr. Pfeiffer.
Mexico: Austria’s Unitherm Cemcon has been awarded the supply of an MAS DT burner to an unnamed cement plant in Mexico. The burner is designed for coal, natural gas and liquid secondary fuel operation. To optimise the maintenance work, the burner is equipped with a divisible jacket tube. A satellite burner, with the supplier’s adjustment system, will be mounted on top of the main burner to improve solid secondary fuel utilisation.
Anhui Conch orders laboratory automation systems from ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions
05 August 2019China: Anhui Conch Cement has ordered four new Polab laboratory automation systems from Germany’s ThyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions. The systems will be installed at some of the world’s largest integrated cement plants at Wuhu and Tongling respectively in Anhui province. No value for the order has been disclosed.
