SIEBTECHNIK TEMA launches Bulkinspector pycnometer
11 March 2022Germany: SIEBTECHNIK TEMA has launched its Bulkinspector automatic gas pycnometer. The pycnometer can help cement producers to obtain precise measurements of bulk materials’ densities. The interior of its insulated system housing is covered with Peltier elements and can be heated or cooled as required to keep the temperature of the material constant for the measurement. The equipment calibrates automatically and provides reproducible measured data with low standard deviation.
ThyssenKrupp launches new HPGR Pro grinding roll
17 August 2020Germany: ThyssenKrupp has announced the launch of the HPGR Pro, a high-pressure grinding roll for raw materials processing that it says “offers up to 20% more throughput, 15% lower energy consumption and 30% longer-lasting rollers” than previous models. HPGR global product manager Frank Schroers said, “We used our experience and what we learned from conversations with customers to introduce improvements that are unique in this market and make grinding much easier.” Laser monitoring keeps users constantly informed about the roller surface and helps predict the best possible time for roller replacement. “Our customers need no longer stop the machine as a precautionary measure, saving them valuable time. What’s more, as our specialists collect and process machine data, our customers can continually improve their HPGR’s operation and optimise throughput, energy consumption or machine availability in line with their specific targets,” added Schroers.
Australia: Mideco’s Bat Booth 2.0 personnel de-dusting booth has given producers an edge in tackling the spread of coronavirus amongst employees by detecting a sign of infection, namely a raised temperature (over 37.8°C). A medically-calibrated infra-red sensor in the Bat Booth 2.0 takes the user’s temperature in under half a second, informing them of the need to isolate. Mideco says that the booth’s low-pressure compressed air dust removal feature further reduces the contamination risk from an infected person’s clothing. Mideco said, “At a higher level, senior management can track trends and monitor the wellbeing of their staff remotely.”
Huaxin Cement wins award for digital projects
17 April 2020China: The China Building Materials Federation and the China Silicate Society have named Hauxin Cement as the winner of the Science and Technology Award 2019 for its digitisation project. The project, entitled ‘Development and Innovation of a Cement Enterprise Operation Digital System,’ aims to modernise management at a pan-business level by using monitoring and analysis, intelligent logistics and a service centre system across 11 different software platforms. 39 Huaxin-affiliated companies currently use the product.
Vostokcement employees attend FLSmidth workshop
16 April 2020Russia: Denmark-based FLSmidth has held an equipment installation and maintenance workshop for Vostokcement employees at Vostokcement subsidiary Spasskcement’s 3.2Mt/yr integrated plant in Primorsky Krai. Employees of Spasskcement, Teploozerskcement and Yakutcement were in attendance, along with employees of Vostokcement partner company Betonych JSC. The workshop focussed on the use of FLSmidth equipment in material handling equipment monitoring and breakdown response, including kiln shell repair optimisation, vibration diagnostics and flaw detection and pneumatic conveying applications.
Russia: Eurocement subsidiary Kavkazcement has reported the successful installation of a remote monitoring system at its 3.1Mt/yr integrated Kavkazcement plant. The system uses near field communication (NFC) tags and identification devices to feed real-time operational data from its four wet kilns to smartphones. Kavkazcement CEO Oleg Lopatin said, “Accurate and timely inspection of the equipment increases the efficiency and stability of the entire cement production line. The mobile monitoring system reduces the time and improves the quality of diagnostics.”
Krasnoyarsk Cement begins emissions monitoring
09 April 2020Russia: Sibirskiy Cement subsidiary Krasnoyarsk Cement has equipped the exhaust stack of its 1.1Mt/yr Krasnoyarsk, Siberia plant with an emissions monitoring system supplied by Finland-based Gasmet. The system provides continuous NOx, CO2 and SO2 monitoring via a UK-based Oxitec 500E gas analyser, Germany-based Durag D-FL-220 flow rate meter and a Gasmet Simatic computer. Krasnoyarsk managing director Vladimir Afanasin said, “We approached the choice of equipment taking into account all the requirements of the Russian environmental legislation, which have recently been significantly tightened.”
Krasnoyarsky Cement will complete preliminary testing of the installation in late 2020.
