IKN places order for A TEC GRECO kiln burner
14 April 2016Germany: IKN has placed an order for a A TEC GRECO kiln burner for the HeidelbergCement’s cement plant at Burglengenfeld. The project will be completed by the end of 2016. It is part of a general upgrade being conducted at the plant by IKN.
The scope of A TEC GRECO’s supply includes the engineering, design and manufacturing of a tailor-made combustion system including the required peripheral systems for operation. The burner thermal power will be 75MW. The burner is intended use with lignite, sewage sludge, refuse-derived fuel (RDF), diesel and solvents.
A TEC GRECO is a subsidiary of A TEC specialising in burners for kilns and calciners.
ATEC appoints Wolfgang Hammer as managing director
06 April 2016Austria: A TEC Group has appointed Wolfgang Hammer as its new managing director. The former Global Sales Manager at the company replaces Hans Joachim Grieb who retired on 31 March 2016. Stefan Kern has been appointed his deputy. He is responsible for the markets Northern Europe, Eastern Europe and South Africa. These appointments are effective from 1 April 2016.
Austria: A TEC will install a Rocket Mill at a treatment plant of A.S.A. in Wiener Neustadt to produce refuse-derived fuel (RDF). The 7 – 9t/hour plant will be taken into operation in August 2016. RDF will be supplied from the plant to the cement industry with an output size of up to 15mm.
The Rocket Mill will be mainly produced at A TEC’s production site in Eberstein. It will have a 2 x 315kW drive unit and a rotor speed of c580rpm. A TEC Group focused on the optimisation and efficiency improvement of cement plants.
Angola: A TEC has released information regarding its work on the construction of a 2MT/yr greenfield cement plant for Nova Cimangola. As an EPCM (engineering, procurement and construction management) partner, the Austrian engineering and technologies company is coordinating and surpervising the 30 months construction period. The scope of supply for the project includes: tender preparation and contract negotiation; technical services; civil, mechanical and electrical erection supervision; and supplier quality assurance. The cement plant will be finished by the start of 2017.
Turkey: Austria's A TEC Production & Services GmbH has been awarded a contract by Çimentaş Elaziğ for its plant in Elaziğ Province. The contract covers engineering for upgrades and efficiency optimisations of its preheater tower.
The scope of modifications comprises the redesign of all four cyclone stages, riser ducts and related equipment. The project target is to reduce the total preheater pressure drop by 25% and to increase production capacity by at least 8% on a sustainable basis.
The project will be executed in two phases. The first stage modifications were completed in May 2014, the second phase work is due to be completed shortly, while the third and fourth stages are due for completion in 2015. Phase one resulted in a sustainable production increase of 8% and a pressure drop reduction at the fan inlet by about 19%. Based on the phase one results, it is expected that the pressure drop before the fan will be reduced beyond the target figures after completion of phase two, which will allow higher production at less specific power consumption on the fan than initially targeted.
Slovakia: Technology provider A TEC, in collaboration with raw materials company Ferro Duo GmbH and Holcim's Rohožník plant in Slovakia, are now able to provide a complete solution for the recovery of bypass dust in the cement industry for various conditions.
In recent years, A TEC has engaged in technologies for the use of alternative fuels, chlorine bypasses and the re-use and recycling of bypass dust in cooperation with Holcim. Ferro Duo has specialised in the recovery and processing of cement and steel industry dusts and has developed a patented process for treatment and recycling of bypass dust.
A TEC supplies equipment for Messebo Building Materials Production
06 November 2013Ethiopia: A TEC has released progress information on contracts to provide an alternative fuel system, which can process sesame straw and stalks, and a cement big-bag filling station for Messebo Building Materials Production in Mekelle. Both commissions were awarded in the first quarter of 2013 and local manufacturing and the erection will be performed by Mesfin Industrial Engineering PLC, a sister company of Messebo.
Installation of the alternative fuels system will start in the fourth quarter of 2013 with a planned start-up in the first quarter of 2014. Collection and preparation of straw and the production of bales will take place at Kafta Humera. The first phase of the project includes building a baling capacity of 50t/hr and an alternative fuel feeding capacity to the calciner of 10t/hr at the cement plant in Mekelle. A future upgrade, phase two, will scale the system up to a baling capacity of 71t/hr and an alternative fuel feeding capacity of 20t/hr.
The new station for big-bag filling will be installed at the cement plant in Mekelle. The system will consist of three filling stations in modular design. Each station can handle 15 bags/hr. A total number of 45 big-bags/hr with an overall capacity of 90t/hr can be reached. The big-bag filling station will be installed and commissioned at the end of 2013.

Loesche and A TEC enter into close cooperation
17 May 2012Germany/Austria: In a move that affects two major cement industry suppliers Loesche GmbH of Germany, the market leader in dry-grinding technology, and pyroprocessing specialist A TEC Holding GmbH of Austria have entered into a close cooperation agreement. The companies say that it is a mutually-beneficial move and both are convinced that they can jointly provide an even stronger and better support to clients in the cement industry. However, the core business of both companies will remain unchanged.
The companies said that the cooperation, combining technologies and sales organisation, opens new interesting opportunities for certain types of projects, for example combined upgrading projects including grinding circuits and pyroprocess optimisation. The cooperation also generates attractive synergies for both companies. They added that research and development and joint technology developments will provide new and innovative solutions to solve the issues of the cement production market in the future.
