Betolar appoints Riku Kytömäki as president and CEO

Finland: Geoprime producer Betolar has named Riku Kytömäki as its new president and CEO. Riku's professional background is in materials technology, having served as president and CEO of Exel Composites and held senior positions in Switzerland-based ABB. Kytömäki holds board positions in several international companies and organisations, including polymers producer Teknikum Group. He has management experience in Asian markets where Betolar has expanded during the past few years.

Betolar said "Riku will lead Betolar through its next growth phase as its Geoprime solution is entering active production. Geoprime is a next-generation, low-carbon solution and sustainable alternative to cement: it delivers 80% fewer emissions and 100% cement-free building materials with the same performance as traditional concrete."

Jeon Gun-Sik appointed as president of Hanil Cement

South Korea: Hanil Cement has appointed its chief executive officer (CEO) and vice-president Jeon Gun-Sik as its president. He first joined the company in 1991, according to the Maeil Business Newspaper. He worked as the vice plant manager of the Danyang Plant, the head of the business planning department, the head of the business division and the executive vice-president of the head office of Hanil Hyundai Cement. Notably in 2017 he oversaw the acquisition of Hyundai Cement, a subsidiary now known as Hanil Hyundai Cement, that he also runs as CEO and president.

Robert Bunting appointed as head of Bunting

US: Bunting has appointed Robert Bunting as its president and chief executive officer. He succeeds his father, Bob Bunting, in the role. Bunting Senior has now become chair of the company.

Robert Bunting joined Bunting’s Elk Grove Village magnet sales team in 2007. He later became the company’s Global Product Manager for Metal Detection in 2014 and then General Manager of Bunting Elk Grove Village in 2016. He previously sat on the business intelligence committee for PMMI (The Association for Packaging and Processing) and is the marketing director of the Process Equipment Manufacturers' Association (PEMA) at present. He holds a degree in business management at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri and previously worked for Sun Life Financial.

Bunting is a designer and manufacturer of magnetic separators, metal detectors, magnets, magnetic assemblies and magnetising equipment. The company has its headquarters in Newton, Kansas. It was originally founded in 1959 in Chicago, Illinois by Walter F Bunting, the grandfather of Robert Bunting.

Neeraj Akhoury appointed as designated managing director of Shree Cement

India: Shree Cement has appointed Neeraj Akhoury as its designated managing director. Hari Mohan Bangur has also been appointed as chair and Prashant Bangur as Vice Chair. All these personnel changes are subject to approval by the members of the company. In addition, Gopal Bangur has resigned as chair and will become Chairman Emeritus.

Akhoury holds nearly 30 years of professional experience in the cement and steel sectors. He began his career in 1993 at Tata Steel, working for both the cement and steel divisions. He joined Lafarge India in 1999 and worked as member of the Executive Committee responsible for corporate affairs followed by sales. In 2011, he moved to Nigeria as the head of Lafarge AshakaCem. Later, he was appointed as Strategy & Business Development Director for the Middle East & Africa at Lafarge’s headquarters in Paris. He became the head of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh in 2015 and then was appointed as the head of ACC in 2017 and Ambuja Cement in 2020.

Akhoury is a graduate in economics from Allahabad University and holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Liverpool. He has also studied one-year General Management Program at XLRI Jamshedpur and is an alumunus of Harvard Business School.

Nick Miller to leave as head of AdBri

Australia: AdBri says that Nick Miller will be leaving the role as its chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director. Mark Irwin has been appointed as interim CEO with immediate effect. Recruitment for a permanent CEO will start soon. In a trading update, the company said that its earnings were being negatively affected by rising costs, particularly energy and diesel costs, and poor weather.

Miller originally became the CEO of AdBri in 2019 and was later appointed its board of directors as managing director in late 2021.
