UK: The World Cement Association has appointed Roland van Wijnen, the chief executive officer (CEO) of PPC, and Mahendra Singhi, the managing director and CEO of Dalmia Cement, as directors. The appointments were agreed in a vote at the WCA General Assembly Meeting in December 2020.

Singhi has worked in India’s cement sector for over 40 years. He leads Dalmia Cement (Bharat), a large Indian cement producer recognised as having one of the lowest carbon footprints in the world.
Van Wijnen brings more than 20 years of international CEO and consulting experience encompassing operations management, strategy planning and execution, business process re-engineering and people management and development. Prior to his role as CEO at PPC, a large African cement producer, he worked at LafargeHolcim for 17 years, during which time he held various senior leadership roles across the group.

Nepal: Udayapur Cement has appointed Gopi Neupane as its director general. He holds experience in the hydro-electric, health and education sectors, according to Khabarhub. The state-owned cement producer markets the ‘Gaida Cement’ brand.

China: China Resources Cement has appointed Li Fuli as the chairman of its board of directors and the chairman of its nomination committee. He suceeds Zhou Longshan and Ye Shukun respectively in the roles.

Li, aged 54 years, is currently the deputy general manager and chief accountant of China Resources Group. He joined the organisation in mid-2018. Prior to this he worked for China Minmetals Corporation, a Beijing-based metals and mineral trading company, from 1991 to 2018. He holds degrees in economics and business administration.

Germany: Bosch Rexroth has appointed Steffen Haack as its executive board member responsible for engineering from the start of 2021. His tasks will include managing the engineering activities of the company and responsibility for the three business units which constitute the Industrial Hydraulics division. He will take over the role as Head of Engineering from Heiner Lang, who will leave the company by the end of 2020. Haack will retain his role as head of the Industrial Hydraulics business unit. Marc Wucherer, aged 51 years, will be put in charge of the Factory Automation division.

Haack, aged 53 years, holds a doctorate degree in fluid technology. He started his career at Bosch in 1996. Since 2017, Haack has managed the Industrial Hydraulics business unit, for which he remains responsible. Previously, he was a member of the executive board of Bosch Rexroth from 2015 to 2017. In addition to his professional activities, Haack is a member of the Executive Board of the Fluid Technology Association at the Mechanical Engineering Industry Association (VDMA) and the Advisory Board of the German Mechanical Engineering Summit.

Germany-based Bosch Rexroth is a supplier of drive and control technologies for a variety of industries including cement.

Austria: Scheuch Group has announced a number of changes to its management, starting with the appointment of Thomas Eberl as the third managing director of Scheuch Management Holding in August 2020. He remains in his role as chief financial officer (CRO) for Scheuch Group and joins Stefan Scheuch and Jörg Jeliniewski as a managing director.

Eberl has experience from his group and investment controlling role at Vivatis and from the automotive industry, where he worked in international locations at the ZKW Group for 20 years, the final nine of which were spent as CFO.

The group has also appointed Thomas Rainer and Michael Brandl as the managing directors of Scheuch and Scheuch Components respectively. This follows the stepping down of Stefan Scheuch and Jörg Jeliniewski from their interim Business Unit management roles at the start of November 2020.

Finally, the group has made changes to its personnel in its North America subsidiaries, with the appointments of Jim Weber as Vice President of Sales at Schust and Dan Bruyn as chief operating officer (COO) at Camcorp.
Weber succeeded John Rothermel, who was recently promoted to president of Scheuch USA, Schust's parent company, in mid-November 2020. He holds nearly 25 years of sales and leadership experience. He previously served in the US Army and graduated from West Point with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Bruyn started the newly created role for Camcorp from mid-November 2020. He holds 25 years of operations management experience in manufacturing environments. He was most recently Director of Operations at Garsite, where he led the business through a divestiture and financial turnaround. Earlier in his career he helped implement ‘lean’ management initiatives at Gardner-Denver, Harley-Davidson and Pentair. He is a graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia where he earned Master of Engineering and Industrial & Manufacturing Systems qualifications, and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
