Aumund Fördertechnik to supply equipment for Bursa Çimento Fabrikasi’s Bursa cement plant upgrade
19 July 2022Turkey: Germany-based Aumund Fördertechnik has secured a contract to supply equipment for a sustainability-enhancing upgrade to Bursa Çimento Fabrikasi’s Bursa cement plant. The order consists of six belt bucket elevators, four chain bucket elevators, seven pan conveyors, three arched plate conveyors, three spillage conveyors and three drag chain conveyors. The equipment will be involved in cement production from raw material preparation through to clinker grinding.
The Bursa cement plant currently operates using an Aumund bucket apron conveyor and chain bucket elevators.
Sweden: UK-based Samson Materials Handling is supplying an Eco Hopper product for installation at the Port of Slite in Gotland. The hopper will be designed to receive clinker, limestone, coal and refuse-derived (RDF) fuel pellets. These materials will be unloaded at the quay area via crane grabs. The hopper will then discharge direct to trucks via a telescopic chute.
The Eco Hopper installation under normal operating conditions and based on the client’s grab sizes and cycle time, will achieve peak discharging rates of: 353t/hr - based on clinker with a bulk density of 1.4 t/m³; 454t/hr - based on limestone with a bulk material density range of 1.8 t/m³; and 420t/hr - based on RDF Pellets with a bulk material density of 0.6 t/m³.
The Eco Hopper product design concept comprises of a specialised reception hopper unit incorporating Integral filter arrangement with a reverse jet filter media cleaning system which returns all material back in to the material stream. In addition, the inlet system of the hopper is based on the Samson Flex-Flap design which reduces the volume of air necessary to control dust both from the opening grab and displaced air from material falling into the inner hopper below. This contributes to the reduction of airflow reducing filter and power requirements of the equipment.
Commissioning and operator training will be provided by Aumund Group Field Services.
India: Aumund Engineering India has been selected by ACC to refurbish a 175.3m high bucket elevator, the tallest in the world. The elevator is installed at ACC’s Wadi Cement plant in Karnataka where it is used for raw meal pre-heater transport at a rate of 600t/hr.
Originally, the machine was fitted with a steel cord belt of width 1320mm and tension rating of 3150N/mm. Aumund has decided to offer an alternative based on its own design concept resulting in a belt width of 1300mm but with higher tension rating of 4000N/mm with a bucket size of 1250mm at bucket spacing of 450mm. The Aumund belt concept will use continuous close pitch longitudinal ropes without rope free bucket mounting spaces. However, it will use additional wire ropes running laterally across the width of the belt adding lateral stiffness without significantly changing the belt longitudinal flexibility. This cross-stabilised construction is intended to improve stability to the belt with improved bucket fixing.
To make the necessary belt punching, Aumund has developed a special punching machine design which gives clean fixing holes that are accurately aligned relative to the belt edge and at precisely the correct pitch. The belt is held in a cassette and advanced automatically under the punching frame using a precision encoder to measure the pitch. The belts are prepared at the Aumund production in Rheinberg, Germany and shipped to site at the exact required dimensions including a prepared joint and the required clamping connection.
In addition to the new belt the elevator will also be fitted with new drive pulley including friction linings and rubber bucket mounting strips. The casings, inlet and outlet plus the complete drive unit remain unchanged.
No commissioning date for the project has been announced.
Switzerland: Jura Cement has installed a PREMAS 4.0 continuous monitoring system supplied by Aumund at its Wildegg cement plant. The system informs operators about the condition of the equipment used in cement production at the plant in real time via the PREMAS Cloud. It also provides service life estimates for critical components.
The Wildegg plant previously hosted a prototype PREMAS 4.0 in early 2020.
Head of Maintenance Ramona Keller said “We are convinced that predictive maintenance has a future. With PREMAS 4.0, we can better plan spare parts and maintenance, which has a positive effect on resources and costs. The PREMAS Portal is easy to use and very clear. It enables us to recognise immediately where there is a need for action, regardless of time and place."
Watch out for more on this project in the forthcoming December 2021 issue of Global Cement Magazine
