New appointments revealed at Aumund in the US
21 February 2024US: Aumund Group has appointed Wes Allen appointed as Vice President Operations and Scott Martin as Head of the Global Conversion Team.
Allen has worked for Aumund since 2007 first as Director of After Sales and Service, North & Central America, then Information Technology Operations Manager and then Vice President Sales and Marketing. Prior to his experience with Aumund, Allen worked for environmental services company WM.
Martin previously worked in technical retrofit roles at Aumund since starting at the company in 2019. Prior to this he worked for KettenWulf as a Technical Account Manager and Project Engineer from 2016. Martin is a graduate in mechanical engineering from Kennesaw State University.
Austria: Australia-based FCT Combustion has appointed Átila Soares as its Sales Manager for Europe and Africa. He will be based at the company’s office in Vienna. Soares previously worked for Aumund Group in Brazil in a variety of roles since 2005. The latest position was as a Sales Manager based in São Paulo. He also holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the Faculdade de Engenharia Industrial (FEI) in Brazil.
Jan Weckes appointed as managing director of Schade Lagertechnik
11 October 2023Germany: Schade Lagertechnik appointed Jan Weckes as its managing director from the start of September 2023. Weckes previously worked as the managing director for IAS. Prior to this he had managerial sales and marketing roles with MBE Coal & Minerals Technology and worked for Outotec for a decade. He holds a PhD in metallurgy and materials engineering from RWTH Aachen University.
Poland: Germany-based Schade Lagertechnik has upgraded the bulk handling equipment for raw materials including limestone and flue gas desulfurisation (FGD) gypsum at a cement plant in Górażdże. A Schade cantilever reclaimer was supplied to double the conveying capacity to 400t/hr with an associated belt conveyor.
Notably, the subsidiary of Aumund says that the order presented several challenges such as integrating the new equipment into the existing infrastructure, adapting it to the design of the building that dated back to the 1970s and installing the new kit whilst allowing the plant to continue operating. Once the new equipment had been assembled the installation team only had 10 days to dismantle the old machine and to switch operation over to the new equipment.
Schade Lagertechnik was responsible for the engineering, design, fabrication and supply. Aumund Group Field Service also assisted with the installation.
Aumund Foundation takes charge of Aumund Group
21 June 2023Germany: Aumund Group will be run by the Aumund Foundation, following the death of its owner Franz-Walter Aumund in February 2023. The Aumund Foundation, created in 2019, was originally set up to promote the group’s philanthropic concerns, particularly on education, vocational training and research.
Alex van Denderen, the chief financial officer of Aumund Group and Aumund Holding, said “The Aumund Group is led by managing directors who have grown with the company and whose primary focus is on proximity to customers. It pursues the values of quality and reliability which have increasingly become anchored in the Aumund brand over its hundred year history. The Aumund Foundation supports the principle of creating something lasting for others, and is committed to achieving a sustainable future for the next generation.”
The group supplies products and services for conveying, storage, loading and unloading of bulk materials, site service, maintenance, and freight forwarding. It covers process chains in the cement, lime, gypsum, mining, minerals, metallurgy, foundry, power, chemicals, fertiliser and foodstuffs industries, as well as in ports and terminals and alternative fuels. Its subsidiaries include Aumund Fördertechnik, Schade Lagertechnik, Samson Materials Handling, Tilemann Ketten & Komponenten, Aumund Group Field Service and Aumund Logistic.
Türkiye: Ahmet Eren, the chair of Eren Holding, says that its Medcem Çimento subsidiary will double its cement production capacity to 7Mt/yr in 2024. Eren made the comments in an interview amongst revealing investment plans, in other sectors, according to Bloomberg. Medcem Çimento selected Sintek Group to build a new 9000t/day production line at its integrated Mersin plant in late 2021. Germany-based Aumund was also reported in 2022 to be supplying equipment for the project.
UK: Germany-based Aumund Group has appointed Martin Dummigan as the managing director of its Samson Materials Handling subsidiary. He succeeds Dale Lockley in the post.
Dummigan holds a master’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Queen’s University in Belfast. He started his career in 1990 as a research and development engineer. Over the next 30 years he has held numerous manufacturing and corporate management positions at companies including Telestack and Terex in various countries including China, the US, Japan and South Africa. His last position was as the Group Vice President of Operations for Astec Material Solutions. He is also a co-founder of the Spadetown Brewery based in Northern Ireland.
Aumund Group announces death of Franz-Walter Aumund
10 February 2023Germany: Aumund Group has reported that its chair Franz-Walter Aumund died on 4 February 2023. He was 78 years old. He was the third generation of the Aumund family to run the company after his grandfather Heinrich Aumund founded Aumund Patente in 1922.
A farewell ceremony will be held at Aumund Group’s headquarters in Rheinberg, North Rhine-Westphalia, on 14 February 2023.
Mari Kuijs appointed as General Manager After Sales at Aumund
11 January 2023Germany: Aumund has appointed Mari Kuijs as General Manager After Sales. He previously spent over 30 years working for ThyssenKrupp Group holding jobs in Germany, the Netherlands, Turkiye and the Middle East. He holds qualifications in energy technology, business administration and management studies.
Turkey: MEDCEM plans to expand its Silifke cement plant's clinker capacity by 90% to 6.5Mt/yr. Germany-based Aumund will supply the upgrade with 41 different machines. The package comprises six belt bucket elevators, two chain bucket elevators, four pan conveyors and 11 drag chain conveyors, with capacities up to 900t/hr. The order also includes 13 silo discharge gates for belt conveyors and five telescopic chutes for truck loading. The supplier will deliver the goods in October 2022, for scheduled commissioning in January 2023.
