Qarshi Conch Cement to commission new plant in late 2020

14 May 2019

Uzbekistan: Qarshi Conch Cement, a subsidiary of China’s Anhui Conch Cement, plans to commission its new 1.2Mt/yr plant at Qarshi in December 2020. The project had an investment of US$150m, according to Kun. Anhui Conch said that preliminary work had started on the plant in early 2019.

Uzbek government to sell stake in Kyzylkumcement

Uzbekistan: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has approved a list of companies with state-owned shares to be sold to foreign investors. It includes the country’s 35.9% stake in Kyzylkumcement. Other sectors the government is divesting its shares in include insurance, banking, power generation, oil & gas and soft drinks.

Chinese joint ventures boost Tajik cement production

16 April 2019

Tajikistan: The Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MOINT) says that Tajik-Chinese joint ventures Chzhungtsai Mohir Cement, Huaxin Gayur Cement, and Huaxin Gayur Sughd Cement accounted for nearly 85% of local cement production in the first three months of 2019. Overall production grew by 9% year-on-year to 0.84Mt from 0.75Mt in the same period in 2018, according to the Asia-Plus News Agency. Around 36% of production was exported with more than 150,000t of cement to Uzbekistan, more than 140,000t of cement to Afghanistan and nearly 12,000t of cement to Kyrgyzstan. Tajikistan has 13 cement plants with a total production capacity of 4.7Mt/yr.

Qizilqumsement starts US$110m upgrade

Uzbekistan: Qizilqumsement has started building a US$110m upgrade to its Qizilqum cement plant. The project is intended to increasing the plant’s clinker production capacity and decrease energy costs. It is scheduled for completion in 2020.

Almalyk starts exporting cement to Afghanistan

28 March 2019

Afghanistan/Uzbekistan: Uzbekistan’s Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (AMMC) has started exporting cement to Afghanistan. A trial consignment of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) was despatched from the company’s new 1.5Mt/yr Sherabad cement plant in Surkhandarya, according to the Trend News Agency. It intends to export 0.5Mt/yr to Afghanistan. As part of a contract signed with the Hamid Company just under 1000t of cement has been sent by train to Mazar-i-Sharif.

Price rises push profit boost for Anhui Conch in 2018

22 March 2019

China: Anhui Conch’s revenue grew by 70.5% year-on-year to US$19.1bn in 2018 from US$11.2bn in 2017. Its sales volumes of cement rose by 25% to 368Mt. Its net profit increased by 88% to US$4.44bn from US$2.36bn. The cement producer attributed this to ‘significant’ growth in its prices.

During the reporting year the group commissioned four cement grinding units for its Yueqing Conch Cement and Jiande Conch subsidiaries. It also acquired Guangdong Qingyuan Cement, increasing its production capacity of clinker and cement by 2.7Mt and 4Mt respectively.

Outside of China, the group completed and commissioned two clinker production lines and four cement grinding units at Battambang Conch Cement in Cambodia and PT Conch North Sulawesi Cement in Indonesia. Its Luangprabang Conch Cement project in Laos has moved to the equipment installation phase and construction of Myanmar Conch Cement (Mandalay) in Myanmar has begun. Preliminary work has also started for the Vientiane Conch Cement project in Laos and the Qarshi Conch Cement project in Uzbekistan.

At the end of 2018 the group has a clinker and cement production capacities of 252Mt/yr and 353Mt/yr respectively.

Eurocement orders three mills from Gebr. Pfeiffer

Uzbekistan: Russia’s Eurocement has ordered three mills from Germany’s Gebr. Pfeiffer for its Akhangarancement plant upgrade in Uzbekistan. The package includes an MVR 5000 R-4 for raw material grinding and two MVR 5000 C-4 for cement grinding. The MVR 5000 R-4, features a total drive power of 2500kW, will grind 500t/hr of cement raw material to a fineness of 12% R 90µm. The cement mills, each with an installed drive power of 4000kW, are designed to grind 200t/hr of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) at 3200 Blaine. No value for the order has been disclosed.

Akhangarancement installs Wikov gearbox on rotary kiln

Uzbekistan: Akhangarancement, part of Russia’s Eurocement, has installed a new Wikov gearbox on the rotary kiln at its plant in Akhangaransky as part of a US$1.5m upgrade project. Other work included upgrades to the clinker conveyors, the sludge line, the cooler, the heat exchanger and other equipment. A new production line is currently being built at the 2Mt/yr plant. It is scheduled for commissioning in 2020.

Huaxin Cement to build 1.2Mt/yr plant in Uzbekistan

05 February 2019

Uzbekistan: China’s Huaxin Cement plans to build a new 1.2Mt/yr cement plant in the Zafarabad district of Jizzakh region for US$150m. The unit will be commissioned in December 2019, according to the Trend News Agency. It intends to export about 0.12Mt of cement during the first stage of production. As part of the project, Huaxin Cement’s local subsidiary, Huaxin Cement Jizzakh, has been temporarily exempted from paying various tariffs, including income, property, custom and added taxes.
