Nepal: FLSmidth has signed a contract to build a cement grinding line for Nepal Shalimar Cement. The agreement includes the engineering, procurement and supply of equipment for a 35t/hr ordinary Portland cement grinding unit (3200 Blaine) at the company’s existing plant at Simara, Bara District.
The contract comprises a range of equipment, including an FLSmidth OK 19-3 vertical mill, bag filters, weigh feeders, truck loading machine, OK mill gear reducer and plant control systems. Completion is scheduled for the second quarter of 2018.
"The project is an example that world class energy-efficient technology can be applied even for smaller capacity grinding units. Our technological competences and a strong local presence allow us to support many emerging markets, including Nepal," said Country Head of FLSmidth India, Carsten Riisberg Lund.
Bangladesh: FLSmidth has confirmed that is to supply a cement grinding production line for Meghna Cement Mills. The Danish equipment manufacturer has signed a contract with Meghna Cement Mills for engineering, procurement and supply of equipment for a 415t/hr Portland composite cement at 3800 Blaine grinding unit at it plant in Mongla in the Bagerhat District. No value for the deal has been disclosed.
The scope of the order includes an FLSmidth OKTM 54-6 mill, planetary gear unit from FLSmidth MAAG Gear, fabric filters from FLSmidth Airtech, weigh feeders from FLSmidth Pfister and a plant control system from FLSmidth Automation. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2018.
Bolivia: Fábrica Nacional de Cemento (Fancesa) is undergoing a tendering process to upgrade its packing unit at its cement plant in Cal Orcko. Haver & Boecker, FLSmidth Ventomatic, Claudius Peters and Beumer Latin America all submitted bids, according to the Correo del Sur newspaper. The project includes a new cement silo, new bagging machinery and a mechanised loading system.
FLSmidth to buy part of Sandvik Mining Systems
12 July 2017Sweden: FLSmidth has signed an agreement to acquire a part of Sandvik Mining Systems. This includes continuous surface mining and minerals handling technologies and competences that are intended to strengthen the group's core minerals business. The acquisition will increase FLSmidth’s coverage of the full mining value chain, from the primary crushing point in the mining pit and the transport from mine to plant all the way through the minerals processing plant to the handling of tailings.
FLSmidth will provide project management and aftermarket services to Sandvik on the majority of on-going projects to be delivered during 2017 - 2019. The agreement is subject to certain conditions, including regulatory authority clearance, and closing is expected by the end of 2017.
India: The Tamil Nadu state Industries Minister M C Sampath says that the Tamil Nadu Cements Corporation (Tancem) upgrade project is 60% complete at its Ariyalur cement plant. The US$116m upgrade at the government-owned plant is being undertaken by Larsen & Toubro with FLSmidth, according to the Press Trust of India. US$24m has been spent on the project so far. Construction is expected to be completed in 2018 and the upgrade will increase the plant’s production capacity to 1.5Mt/yr from 0.5Mt/yr.
Mongolia: Prime Minister J Erdenebat has attended the inauguration ceremony of Mongolyn Alt Corporation’s (MAK) 1.1Mt/yr cement plant at Dalanjargalan. The new plant is forecast to create around 900 jobs and replace cement imports worth up to US$75m/yr, according to the Mongolian News Agency. The unit will produce a range of different strength Ordinary Portland Cements, sulphate resistant cement and water-resistant cement. Danish engineering contractor FLSmidth won a Euro86m contract to build the 3000t/day plant in 2012. In conjunction with the project a 1.9km railway was built from the Olon-Ovoot railway terminal and a 65km power transmission line was set up from Choir with a substation.
Pakistan: Power Cement has ordered a 7700t/day production line from FLSmidth for its plant at Nooriabad. The new line will be the third production at the site run by Arif Habib Group. The engineering, procurement and supply contract includes a complete range of equipment from crushing to packing and cement loading. No value for the order has been disclosed.
The order includes an ATOX 55 vertical mill for raw grinding, an ATOX 25 vertical mill for coal grinding, an EV 250x250 Hammer Impact Crusher, stacker and reclaimer systems for storage, a ROTAX-2 rotary kiln with low NOx ILC calciner, a JETFLEX burner prepared for future refuse derived fuel (RDF) use, a FLSmidth Cross-Bar cooler and two OK 39-4 vertical mills for cement grinding. Commissioning for the project is scheduled for the end of 2018.
Africa: Denmark’s FLSmidth has signed a contract for a cement plant valued at more than Euro100m in an unspecified location in North Africa. The contract includes engineering, equipment supply, construction supervision, commissioning and training. The plant will have a production capacity of 12,000t/day. The contract will become ‘official’ once FLSmidth receives a down payment for the work.
Denmark: Bjarne Moltke Hansen has resigned as the Group Executive Vice President of FLSmidth. The 57-year old Danish national started his career in 1984 working for Unicon, a subsidiary of FLSmidth at the time. He subsequently held the position as chief executive officer (CEO) of Cembrit Holding for five years before taking up the position as CEO of Aalborg Portland Holding in 2000. In 2002, Bjarne took on the position as Group Executive Vice President, Customer Services Division until he was appointed Group Executive Vice President, Product Companies Division in 2015.
Meghna Cement Mills to install new mill
12 April 2017Bangladesh: Meghna Cement Mills has signed a contract with Denmark’s FLSmidth to install a vertical roller mill with a production capacity of 2Mt/yr. The contract has been valued at US$15.7m and it will be installed by mid-2019, according to the Daily Star newspaper. The cement producer is taking loans from the Infrastructure Development Company to pay for the upgrade. Meghna Cement Mills operates a 1.2Mt/yr plant at the Port of Mongla. It markets its cement under the King Brand Cement line.
