Loesche to supply five mills in China
06 March 2013China: German cement industry supplier Loesche GmbH has signed a contract to provide five mills to Shanxi Biological Cement Co. in China. The Shanghai division of Loesche has taken an order for two raw material mills and three clinker mills with complete mill key parts, housings and frames. The components are scheduled for delivery in 2013 with commissioning planned for mid-2013.
Shanxi Biological Cement is the daughter company of Shanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group Co. It has merged two local cement companies with just under 1Mt/yr cement production capacity. It is building two 4500t/day clinker production lines in FuPing and a 1.8Mt/yr ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS) production line in Gaoling. Another 1Mt/yr clinker grinding station plant in HuangLing is being planned. Following all of this production, Shanxi Biological Cement Co intends to become the top cement producer in Western China with a capacity of 10Mt/yr.
Loesche announces orders for Sinoma and Dangote in Africa
13 February 2013Nigeria: German vertical roller mill (VRM) producer Loesche GmbH has been awarded a contract for five new VRMs from China's Sinoma International Engineering, which is building a two kiln extension to the existing Dangote Cement Ibese plant. Loesche previously delivered equipment for the first and second lines at the same plant.
The five VRMs to be supplied are two 450t/hr Loesche Mill Type LM69.9 mills for raw material and three 310t/hr cement LM 63.3+3C cement mills. As with previous work at Ibese, the high moisture of the material of up to 20%, the sticky nature of the raw material and the low grindability of the raw material represent special challenges for the project.
In addition to the mills and the mill motors, Loesche will deliver metal detectors and hopper discharge feeders. The supply of the equipment will be split between Loesche, which is supplying key parts, and a Chinese-manufactured portion arranged by Sinoma International under supervision of Loesche. Delivery is scheduled at the end of 2013.
Ethiopia: Sinoma has also announced that it has contracted Loesche as the sole supplier of grinding technology for the construction of the Menagasha grinding plant, which is being constructed by Dangote. Delivery will be in early 2014.
Four Loesche mills will be included in the process; a 450t/hr LM 69.6 for raw material grinding, a 50t/hr LM 28.3D for coal grinding and two LM53.3+3C mills will be used for grinding clinker additives such as gypsum, limestone and pumice.
In addition to the mills and the mill motors, Loesche will deliver metal detectors and mill rotary feeders. The supply is a split-up of Loesche key parts and a Chinese manufactured portion arranged by Sinoma International under supervision of Loesche.
Both the plant elevation of 2600m above sea level and the very poor grindability of the cement raw material represents a special challenge for the layout of the grinding equipment in this case.

30 November 2012Iraq: Sinoma (Suzhou) Construction Co has placed an order for an MPS 5000 B vertical roller mill for raw material grinding from Germany's Gebr. Pfeiffer. The grinding plant will be set in GRD Cement Plant Company Tainall's 5000t/day cement plant located near the town of Sulaimaniah in northern Iraq. The MPS vertical roller mill on order is designed for a capacity of 450t/hour at a product fineness of 12 % R 90µm.
Pfeiffer wins VRM order from Colombian producer
01 November 2012Germany: Gebr. Pfeiffer Inc., a subsidiary of Gebr. Pfeiffer SE, has been awarded a contract to supply an MPS 140 BK Coal Mill at Cementos Tequendama in Suesca, Cundinamarca. The contract follows other recent Pfeiffer projects in Colombia, including Cementos Tequendama, Cementos San Marcos and other cement plants. New VRM orders announced by Pfeiffer
12 September 2012Germany: Gebr. Pfeiffer SE has announced new orders for vertical roller mills (VRM) in Poland and Malaysia.
Pfeiffer has won the contract to supply a MPS 3070 BC VRM for grinding 46t/h of blast-furnace slag for the Odra works in Opole, Poland.
At the plant it is intended that slag ground to 3800cm²/g Blaine will be used as an additive to the cement. The VRM will feature a main drive with an output of 1350kW for a production rate of 46t/hr. Exhaust gases produced by the clinker cooler will allow the slag to be dried from a 9% feed moisture level down to below a 1% residual moisture level while being ground in the mill. The design of the mill will also make it possible to grind as much as 45t/hr of Ordinary Portland Cement to a fineness of 3500cm²/g Blaine.
In Malaysia Pfieffer has won a contract from KHD Humboldt Wedag for the construction of a 5000t/day plant. KHD is acting as a general contractor for an order from Straits Cement, a subsidiary of the Malaysian YTL Group.
Pfieffer is to supply the VRM for grinding cement raw material and coal. A MPS 4750 B raw mill is to be set up which can handle a capacity of 300t/hr of cement raw material ground to a product fineness of 12% R 90µm. The coal mill of the type MPS 2800 BK will be capable of grinding 35t/hr of coal.
