Austria: W&P Zement has appointed Jerneja Potocnik, Florian Salzer and Peter Ramskogler as its finance, technology and sales directors respectively. The trio started their roles in April 2021. The appointments are intended to allow managing directors Lutz Weber and Bernhard Auer to focus on the development and growth of the parent company Alpacem and its other subsidiaries with respect to sustainability and digitisation. The decision is also planned to allow W&P Zement to work on modernising its integrated plants at Wietersdorf and Peggau.

Belgium: Cembureau, the European Cement Association, has elected Isidoro Miranda as its president and Ken McKnight as its vice-president at its general assembly. Miranda, the managing director of LafargeHolcim Spain, who was previously the association’s vice-president, succeeds Raoul de Parisot in the president role. Knight is a member of the CRH executive committee.

Bangladesh: Shun Shing Group, the owner of Seven Rings Cement, has appointed Tahmina Ahmed as Additional Managing Director for Bangladesh. She has worked on the company’s board of directors since 2007.

Thailand: Scheuch Asia has appointed Mirko Köhler as its managing director will effect from mid-June 2021. He succeeds Jan Eike Graeff, who has been in the post since 2019.

Germany-born Köhler has been living in Asia since 2006 and holds international sales experience working in Singapore and Hong Kong with roles at IKN, Refratechnik Asia, Aumund and ABB. His most recent position was with fire protection company Svt based in Singapore. He is a trained engineer and holds a Master of Science (MSc) and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

India/US: Mahendra Singhi, the head of India-based Dalmia Cement (Bharat), has been invited to represent the Carbon Pricing Leadership Coalition (CPLC) as Carbon Pricing Champion. He will work with Feike Sijbesma, Honorary Chair of Board of Royal DSM to devise carbon pricing strategies for the Asia-Pacific region

The CPLC is a global coalition promoted by the World Bank Group. It is represented by 34 national and sub-national governments, 172 private sector organizations 100 strategic partners non government organisations, business organisations, and universities. The voluntary initiative aims to accelerate climate change mitigation by securing the place of carbon pricing on the global agenda.
