Mexico: Corporación Moctezuma has appointed Juan Mozo Gómez as its chief financial officer with effect from the start of 2022. He succeeds Luis Rauch, who has decided to leave the post after four years for personal reasons. Mozo has experience in the financial sector and held positions in companies in the cement and concrete industry. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Pompeau Fabra University in Spain.

Nigeria: Dangote Cement has reported that Alhaji Sani Dangote died on 14 November 2021. He was the brother of the company’s founder and chair Aliko Dangote.

Sani Dangote was a businessperson with over 30 years’ experience in various sectors of the Nigerian economy including manufacturing, agriculture and oil services. He was the Vice President of Dangote Industries and sat on the board of several other companies. He was also the deputy chair of the African Gum Arabic Producers Association, a fellow of the Nigeria Institute of Shipping and president of the Fertiliser Producers and Suppliers Association.

Pakistan: Fecto Cement has renewed Amir Ghani as its chair and Mohammed Yasin Fecto as its chief executive officer (CEO). Both positions will have a term of three years from the start of November 2021.

Ghani joined his family textile business in 1991 and is currently is a director in Ghani Dyings. He is a member of the Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers Association and Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Boston in the US.

Fecto was first appointed as the CEO of Fecto Cement in 1993 and has held the position since then. He holds a MBA from the Quaid-e-Azam University.

Bangladesh: The Bangladesh Cement Manufacturers Association (BCMA) has re-elected Alamgir Kabir as its president. Kabir is the vice-chairman of MI Cement Factory, which operates the Crown Cement band, according to the Daily Star newspaper. Md Shahidullah, the managing director of Metorcem Cement and chairman of Metrocem Group, and Zahir Uddin Ahmed, managing director of Confidence Cement, have also been re-elected as the first and second vice-president of the association respectively. The elections were held at the 20th annual general meeting of the BCMA in late October 2021.

UK: The Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) has elected Jan Jenisch as its president. He takes up the role with immediate effect and succeeds outgoing president, Albert Manifold, the chief executive officer (CEO) of CRH. As the first president of GCCA, Manifold oversaw its founding as a global platform for the concrete and cement industry and its work to unite the sector around the launch of its 2050 global roadmap to net zero concrete.

Jenisch was appointed CEO of Holcim (then LafargeHolcim) in 2017, having previously been CEO of Sika. He was also elected to the board of directors of Holcim in 2021. As president of the GCCA Jenisch will oversee the implementation of GCCA’s 2050 roadmap to net zero concrete, launched earlier in October 2021.
